KANG THE CONQUEROR

The newest trailer of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania gives insight into the beginning of a new dynasty, kickstarting Phase 5 of the MCU. It also gives new insight to Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror, who first appeared in Marvel Studios’ Loki. Kang is incredibly powerful. According to Janet Van Dyne, Hope’s mother, who spent years in the Quantum Realm and knew about Kang all along, claims, “He can rewrite existence. And shatter timelines.”

Despite Hope’s insistence that Scott cannot trust Kang, Scott makes a deal with him anyway, wanting more time with his daughter, Cassie. Seeing as Scott was trapped in the Quantum Realm for almost the entire duration of the Blip, he didn’t get to watch his daughter grow up. Throughout the entire Ant-Man trilogy, Scott’s main focus is his daughter. So, his desire to get more time with her is understandable. Kang offers Scott Lang the ability to get back those five years he lost while stuck in the Quantum Realm.

MODOK’S MCU DEBUT

Apart from Kang’s chaos, the trailer also offers a first look at MODOK’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. MODOK is featured in the titular Hulu series, starring Patton Oswalt as the voice of MODOK. He was originally intended to be a villain in the seventh and final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which also featured time travel via the Quantum Realm.

In addition to Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang and Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, the movie will feature Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang having taken over the role from Avengers: Endgame‘s actress, Emma Fuhrmann.
