A little coffee shop set up in Tokyo, a generational shop, brewing coffee for over a hundred years. It is tucked away in a back alley, but the rumors never stopped growing: that the owner can make more than just a fantastic coffee for you. He offers the chance to travel back in time, but only briefly. Four customers appear, each having their special reason for going back in time: to see a sister, to receive a letter, to get closure, to meet someone they never knew. However, there are rules to time traveling that may be harder than they look. Never leave the cafe, sit at the same table, and leave the past before the coffee gets cold.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman
The last book on this list is another cozy romance, full of heartwarming messages and comedic dialogue. The Bookish Life of Nina Hill was written by Abbi Waxman and published in 2019. The Bookish Life of Nina Hill is the first in the duology, but it is another series that can be read as a standalone. With that being said, there are recurring characters in the second book, Adult Assembly Required, but the focus is on a different FMC and a different plot. It is still the perfect story for a relatable character and a nice breath of fresh air.

Nina has never wanted anything different than what she has. She has a great job, is on a trivia team, and has her cat. Whenever things feel… empty, she picks up a new book instead. Going out of her comfort zone is not in her cards. But then her father dies, her father that she never knew, and suddenly she has this large family she never had. Worst part? They live close and want to meet her. Nina? Socializing? No way.
Even worse, her trivia rival has started showing an interest in her, but she can’t date her rival. Instead, she should find a new identity, move to an island to live alone, or lock herself in her apartment. None of those are viable options, so Nina has to put herself out there, meet her new family, and possibly explore a new relationship. Maybe a fresh story for her is just what she needs.
Mental health is never an easy struggle; it shouldn’t be expected to be easy or pushed under the rug. All the negative feelings and thoughts are real, but finding one thing at a time to distract and pull away can mean all the difference between a horrible day and an okay day. These cozy books will be perfect to take you away from that darkness, even a little bit.
