With Super Bowl LVI right around the corner, we’re looking at the trailers we’re most excited to see, and which ones we hope will debut.

This year’s Super Bowl Sunday is shaping up to be a big one for a number of reasons. For sports fans, it’s one of the biggest, most popular events of the year. It’s one of the biggest nights of the year for film and TV fans too. Super Bowl commercial spots, which usually run about 30-60 seconds each, sell for millions of dollars each year because of the sheer number of people tuned in to the televised event. So what better time for studios to debut trailers for highly anticipated movies and shows?

This year is going to see some major trailers drop. While we’re excited for the previews that have already been confirmed to air this Sunday, there’s a few we’re crossing our fingers for, even if they haven’t necessarily been announced. Here’s to wishing, right?

Let’s take a look at three trailers we can’t wait to see debut this Sunday, and speculate about three trailers we’re hoping will surprise us.

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – CONFIRMED

It was announced earlier this week via that Amazon Studios’ highly anticipated Lord of the Rings series will debut its first official trailer this Sunday. The excitement didn’t stop there though- Vanity Fair debuted another official look at The Rings of Power early Thursday, upping the already-present excitement for this weekend’s trailer. Personally, I cannot wait to see this trailer and will be impatiently waiting for it to air during the big game on Sunday.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on Prime Video on September 2, 2022.

DC’s Black Adam – CONFIRMED … MAYBE.

Okay, so this one isn’t officially confirmed, but we’ve got a pretty good hint from the film’s star that DC’s Black Adam will debut its first trailer during the Super Bowl.

On Monday Dwayne Johnson posted a tweet announcing he’d be at the Super Bowl. He said, “After all these years, my football dream of standing on the Super Bowl field has finally… come true! This will be historic… This will be ELECTRIFYING.” It’s an obvious nod towards his title character, right? It seems like a safe bet that Johnson will be bringing something along the lines of an official trailer with him to Super Bowl LVI.

On the other hand, Black Adam doesn’t release in theaters until July, and with The Batman‘s release right around the corner, DC could very easily opt to keep the spotlight on it’s upcoming Batman film. I know, I’m supposed to talk about confirmed trailers right now, but how can we overlook Dwayne Johnson saying Sunday would be “electrifying”?

DC’s Black Adam will hit theaters July 29, 2022.

Jordan Peele’s Nope – CONFIRMED

We were horrified by Get Out in 2017, amazed by Us in 2019, and this Sunday we’ll get a glimpse at Jordan Peele’s next suspenseful, mind-bending social thriller film, Nope. The cast alone already has us excited- David Kaluuya (Get Out), Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, and Barbie Ferreira. Need we say more?

Fans got their first glimpse at Nope via a teaser which announced a full trailer slated for this Sunday.

Jordan Peele’s Nope will hit theaters July 22, 2022.

Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi – UNCONFIRMED

Alright, it’s time to go down the rabbit hole of internet speculation. Could we see the first official footage for the long-awaited Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series on Sunday? Many on the internet are hoping so. Including me.

Hoping for official footage of the return of Ewan McGregor as the legendary Jedi master isn’t as huge of a reach as you might think though. Hear me out: on Wednesday Star Wars and Disney+ unveiled the first poster for the series and announced an official premiere date- May 25, 2022.

With The Book of Boba Fett airing its season finale on Wednesday, this gives Disney+ the opportunity to start ramping up promotion for this next major Star Wars show. Also, with the show set to premiere roughly three months from now, it’s not an outlandish idea to assume a trailer is coming in the near future. The question is, will that “near future” be this weekend? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, a limited original Disney+ series, begins streaming May 25, 2022.

Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight – UNCONFIRMED

We’ve already gotten our first look at Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight in an official trailer that premiered during Monday Night Football back in January, but some fans are wondering if another glimpse of footage is on the horizon. During last year’s Super Bowl Disney+ opted towards airing a sizzle reel that featured glimpses of upcoming shows like WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki.

Could we see the major streaming platform do something like that again this year? And if that’s the case, should we expect to see Obi-Wan show up in that sizzle reel instead of a full-length trailer? Again, we’ll have to wait and see.

Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight begins streaming March 30, 2022.

Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – UNCONFIRMED

Our last bit of speculation takes aim at another Marvel Studios project we’ve gotten a taste for already. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see Doctor Strange take on the Multiverse, a concept about which we know frighteningly little.

A teaser for the film ran during the end-credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home back in December, and was officially released online shortly after. With Multiverse of Madness‘ release date just 3 months away, it’s not a longshot to assume we could see another trailer soon. Super Bowl Sunday is as good a time as any to release another trailer to get fans excited for Marvel Studios’ next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters May 6, 2022.

And there you have it! No matter which previews get shown this weekend, it’s safe to say we’re in for great time. Which trailers are you most excited to see debut this Sunday? Let us know!
