A creepy and spooky announcement finally hit our screens! Netflix teased Wednesday Season 2 on Instagram, and we can’t stop ourselves from dancing. We’ve all been waiting for this moment after the record-breaking success Wednesday brought in upon its premiere. Now sitting as the third most-watched show on Netflix, behind Stranger Things Season 4 and Squid Game, our favorite goth detective returns– But not without a little bit of waiting, of course.

Wednesday actors and Netflix took to Instagram to announce the long-awaited Season 2. I’ll admit, I’ve been waiting for an announcement from the moment I finished the show its first week of being released. It is absolutely binge-worthy.

Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said in a statement,

“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world. Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

Netflix announced on Instagram,

Your favorite pig-tailed goth girl will return to Netflix. Wednesday season 2 is coming!

What’s everyone saying?

With record-breaking viewership, it isn’t a surprise Netflix moved forward with renewing the show, but there has been some speculation before now. According to The Hollywood Reporter,

There were unfounded rumors the show might move to Prime Video (since Amazon acquired the show’s producer MGM and its content last year for $8.5 billion). Amazon had originally passed on Wednesday as an original series. Producers are also exploring ideas for a spin-off.

Some of the Wednesday stars took to Instagram to thank fans for making Season 2 happen, such as Hunter Doohan, who plays Tyler, writing, “I’d like to thank everyone who did the Tik Tok trend for making this happen.”

Joy Sunday, who plays Bianca, also posted on her story, “Back for Season 2,” along with the Netflix teaser.

You may recall previously the epic breakdown of the Season 1 finale and the hopes of what is to come with Wednesday in an interview with showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. We don’t know for certain how involved Tim Burton will be with the next installment, but let’s hope it is a good amount based on how iconic Season 1 is. No official date or timeframe is announced yet, but you can bet we will check every day!
