How about that finale?

The finale of season one left us with huge cliffhangers that definitely set the show up for more to come. Our amateur detective isn’t done solving mysteries just yet— during the closing scene of episode eight, Wednesday gets a text (on her new cellphone) from an unknown number. We also see Tyler, played by Hunter Doohan, in a pretty… tangled situation. It left us all wondering what could be coming for season two.

While nothing is confirmed yet, after the viewership the show brought in with its premiere, it would be spooky and kooky if Netflix didn’t renew the series.

Variety spoke with showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar about season two plans and the bizarre finale ending that left us hanging.

Tyler’s ending is exactly what we thought!

Variety asked,  “In those final moments of the season, he’s in custody, but we see him start to Hyde out. Does that leave the door open for a Tyler return in a potential Season 2?” To which Gough revealed, “Yeah. Absolutely. He’s out there. That’s what we wanted to convey.”

What about that phone Wednesday gets?

Variety wonders if we’ll see Wednesday doing some texting in season two. Millar and Gough give the perfect answer.

“I think our idea is that she throws the phone out the window in the next beat. I just don’t think she ever got to use a phone. […] [S]he’s maybe vaguely tempted or amused by it. But then she’s going to reject it.”

— Miles Millar, Variety

“Thing basically takes the phone. He’ll become a TikTok star in Season 2.”

Season 2 plans?

I know, you’re all craving the season two news and we have it right here! Variety spoke with Gough and Millar about the structure and plans for the next season.

Millar revealed an in-depth look at the process,

“Yeah. For us, it’s always looking at the future, and when we sit down to create a show, it’s looking at multiple seasons, ideally. That’s never expected, but that’s the anticipation that hopefully the show is successful. So you always lay out at least three or four seasons’ worth of potential storylines for the characters. It can evolve and change. Often, you want to see which characters or cast pop and who you like to write for. So you want to keep it open and organic enough to change it and evolve, but we certainly have a pretty clear runway of what we want to do in future seasons.”

— Miles Millar, Variety

The news we all hoped for. It is promising to know the showrunners are looking forward to multiple season and have been since planning the show! Can you imagine three or even four seasons of Wednesday? We can now!
