Vixen: NYC DC Plot
Before heading to college Mari Jiwe is visiting her relatives. She is given a gift, an ancestral totem that gives the wearer powers which originate from the animal kingdom. Arriving in New York she notices strange occurrences, especially with animals. When dark plans are emerging from the deepest alleys of New York; Mari might be the only one to stop them. What will happen when the girls go missing and find out her family heirloom is real?
Vixen Characters to Expect
Mari Jiwe
She is from Wilmington, NC, and recently visited her relatives in Ghana before going to New York. Her grandmother gives her a special totem necklace that has been passed on to various relatives within the family. Legend says a Tantu warrior’s village was being invaded and he asked the gods for help. The great powerful Anansi, the spider god, gifted this necklace to Mari’s ancestor.
Karen Beecher
She is a student in New York and is roommates with Mari. She gives Mari good opportunities for jobs and is a new friend. She is also one of the girls who gets kidnapped. Her career is in the sciences.
Grace
She is a tough-as-nails woman with amazing combat fighting skills. She is very protective of her girlfriend Anissa. She encounters Mari when Anissa goes missing and is very athletic and strong. Her determination yet rude behavior makes her an ideal brooding but soft-in-the-middle kind of character. She decides to train Mari with her powers.
Anissa Pierce
She is the daughter of the well-known superhero Black Lightning. She is dating Grace and they live together. She has electrokinesis powers and is good at combat. She is one of the girls who was kidnapped by Kwesi.
Sai
His family was threatened, so he took a job working with Kwesi to find a magic totem. His dream is to go to medical school somewhere outside the United States.
Beast Boy
As of right now in the Webtoon, we don’t know Beast Boy’s main purpose in the plot. He has one connection to Mari and that is his animal transformations have felt the totem’s powers. He can sense an aura around Mari and has been seen as a ‘stalker’ on campus. However, that is not the case, he just wants to be friends and coincidentally bumps into her. He is actively working with the Teen Titans.
Kwesi
He is a lethal thug who has been kidnapping girls to find the magical totem. He has been requested to find this item and get large compensation for it. He has threatened Sai’s village and family so he can work on this mission. Does he have his own abilities?
