I get it. I am in the same boat. You finally started A Court of Thorns and Roses and now look at us–five books later and we don’t know what to do with ourselves. The chokehold that Sarah J. Maas has on me is evident. I’m not the only one, right? Luckily, her list of books is never-ending and there is so much more for us to add to our TBR that isn’t ACOTAR.
I will fully admit–I own every single one of these books. They’re actively hanging out on my TBR list (which is a stack of books on my window sill) just waiting to be read. Both the Throne of Glass series and Crescent City series give off major fantasy vibes, which is what we are all craving after the beautiful chaos that is A Court of Thorns and Roses. The Throne of Glass series consists of eight books–including a collection of novellas set as a prequel to the series–and the Crescent City series has two books so far. Ten books to add to your TBR? You’ll thank me later.
Throne of Glass series
This high-fantasy series follows the life of 18-year-old Celaena Sardothien—An assassin in the Kingdom of Adrian. She spent a year suffering for her crimes in a slave camp known as Endovier. Now she is accepting an offer from Crown Prince Dorian, the King’s son, to compete against assassins and thieves for a chance to serve as the King’s Champion. If she wins, she will gain her freedom after four years. She begins to develop bonds with some unexpected people leading her to discoveries and conspiracies she didn’t know existed.
Journey through this corrupt kingdom with these seven books and a series of prequel novellas that were released in 2014, a few years after the series began in 2012. I won’t go into too much detail about each book because it will not only spoil it for you, but also for me! Just take my word for it–you have to buy all of these right now.
Throne of Glass (Book #1)
Crown of Midnight (Book #2)
Heir of Fire (Book #3)
Queen of Shadows (Book #4)
Empire of Storms (Book #5)
Tower of Dawn (Book #6)
Kingdom of Ash (Book #7)
The Assassin’s Blade: The Throne of Glass Novellas (Throne of Glass Prequel series)
While these were released a few years after the series started, they act as a prequel, so reading them before you start the Throne of Glass series wouldn’t hurt!
Still following Celaena Sardothien, the most feared assassin in her kingdom, we see what happened before she gets thrust into the Throne of Glass journey. She might be working for Arobynn Hamel, the master of a powerful and scheming Assassin’s Guild, but she yields to no one and trusts few.
It isn’t until she gets sent on missions to remote islands and hostile deserts that she finds herself questioning her allegiance. Everything hangs on the line— Her freedom and her life.
Dive deep into the history of your favorite assassin in this collection of five prequel novellas consisting of The Assassin and the Pirate Lord, The Assassin and the Healer, The Assassin and the Desert, The Assassin and the Underworld, and The Assassin and the Empire.
Crescent City series
This series is two books now, but a third is coming. The trilogy follows Bryce Quinlan who is half human, half-Fae (I know, I can’t control my excitement either). There is something about Fae fantasy stories that just… I can’t explain it. This series is up next for me. Bryce attempts to avenge her friends’ murders and protect her city. Typical Fae vibes, right?
In a world where humans struggle to survive amongst the demons, shifters, angels, and other creatures, Bryce joins sides with a warrior angel to hunt down the killer of her best friend. Their alliance and journey lead them to an enemy that could quite possibly destroy their world. No biggie.
House of Earth and Blood (Book #1)
