Anime wives are the bubbly caretakers of their household. They love their husband and children and will go above and beyond to make them happy. Amidst their job of cleaning, cooking, childcare, and working, they take the time to show their support and encourage their family. This list gives a shoutout to the anime wives who make their respective shows more delightful with their tender and gentle personalities!

Yor Forger from Spy x Family

"Spy x Family" shot of Yor Forger during the interview with the school staff, blushing with a small smile.

If it seems like we keep bringing up Spy x Family, know that it’s for a good reason. With a show so good and funny, of course, this list gives a shoutout to Yor. Beautiful and kind, Yor tries her best to fit the pretend role of Loid Forger’s wife. Yor easily balances taking care of the household, her fake daughter Anya, and going to work. What makes Yor stand out as a wife is her undercover work as an assassin, pairing well with her impressive strength. By throwing a ball full swing, she can cut down trees and once she broke a tennis racket into cubes. Her only flaw is her cooking skills, which nearly kill Loid and Anya a few times. But with lots of practice, Yor will be unstoppable!

Touko Fujiwara from Natsume’s Book of Friends

"Natsume's Book of Friends" anime shot of Touko Fujiwara meeting Natsume for the first time before officially adopting him. She has a wide smile as she stands under a post light during nighttime.

If you haven’t watched the anime or read the manga, you’re missing out. Natsume Yuujinchou is such a calming slice-of-life anime that’ll pull on your heartstrings. To complement the good feel of the show, we have Touko Fujiwara. The main lead, Natsume’s adoptive mother, is a kind woman who didn’t bat an eye when her husband, Shigeru, offered their home to the orphan boy. Touko graciously stood with her husband in giving Natsume a place he could call home, always wanting to have children but was unable to. Her marriage with Shigeru is a beautiful image we all hope to obtain with a significant other, their peaceful days becoming more merry with the addition of Natsume.

Kyouko Honda from Fruit’s Basket

"Fruits Basket" anime shot of Kyouko Honda patting Kyo's head who's offscreen. Her bangs cover her right eye as she smiles at the kid.

This woman is filled with wisdom based on experience. Kyouko was a good mother to Tohru and a loving wife to her deceased husband, Katsuya. Her childhood was rough, being part of a gang with unsupportive parents, but her childhood presented what type of family she wanted to create with Katsuya. Empathetic and insightful, Kyouko tenderly resonates with troubled kids such as Kyo and Uotani, leaving an impact even after her death. Dying before the start of the anime, Kyouko’s presence is mirrored through Tohru, her affection for her friends stemming from her mother’s love. In Fruits Basket: Prelude Kyouko is the star of the movie, from a young delinquent to a loving mother, you’ll want for her to obtain that warm home she never had.

Yui from Hell’s Paradise

"Hell's Paradise" anime shot of Yui smiling with her eyes closed and mouth open, the sun's beams illuminating her face; a memory of Gabimaru as he imagines his wife.

So far, Yui hasn’t been shown in the anime except in flashbacks, but the impact she has on her husband, Gabimaru, is a testament to their strong love. Gabimaru’s only goal is to go back to his wife alive and live an ordinary happily ever after. Yui showed this ninja assassin human compassion, taking the time to teach him that he isn’t “Gabimaru the Hollow” but someone who does have emotions. This influences Gabimaru’s look at other people more than targets to rid of mercilessly, like when he hesitates to kill Sagiri, his monitor and later friend. Some people in the anime community suspect that Yui isn’t real, only showing up in Gabimaru’s memories early in the show. If that’s the case, it’s very heartbreaking for Gabimaru because this couple is so cute!

Shuuko Komi from Komi-san Can’t Communicate

"Komi-san Can't Communicate" anime shot of Shuuko Komi introducing herself to Tadano, winking with her hands over her closed eye. The subtitles on the top say "Forever seventeen!"

Seventeen at heart, Shuuko brings energy to the Komi family. As an extrovert with an introverted husband and children, Shuuko can easily fill the room with her talkative (sometimes imposing) attitude. During a car ride to a relative’s house, Shuuko kept her one-sided conversation going for the whole ride. What makes her a good wife and mother is that she doesn’t force her family to change or force them to talk more. Shuuko doesn’t need verbal cues to understand her husband Masayoshi, who, despite his verbal silence, uses actions to convey his feelings, a trait that makes Shuuko fall in love with Masayoshi. Shuuko is also extremely invested in the love life of her daughter Shouko, who has a strong case of social anxiety, quietly rooting for her from a distance with an enduring smile.

Junko Kaname from Puella Magi Madoka Magica

"Puella Magi Madoka Magica" anime shot of Junko Kaname smiling apologetically at Homura after her son Tatsuya almost pulled at her hair ribbon.

Junko, the breadwinner of the Kaname family, is a hard worker set to provide for her family. Being an office worker might not have been what she wanted to do, but she gives it her all because she loves to see the results of her hard work. Confident and strong, she makes a good team with her husband, Tomohisa, the gentle stay-at-home dad. Both personalities develop the character development of protagonist Madoka, looking up to her mother for courage and her father for kindness. Junko also imparts good advice to Madoka, making her question her situation and how to advance through it. As any good mother, she worries over Madoka, but seeing her daughter grow up into her character, she trusts her to make the right decisions.

Sanae Furukawa from Clannad

"Clannad" anime shot of Sanae Furukawa looking glad as sparkles surround her. Her hands are clapped against each other,
IMAGE VIA ROKU

Sanae and Akio Furukawa are the pinnacle of a good relationship. Giving up their dream careers to raise their daughter Nagisa, they decided to open a bakery. Sanae is known to be… creative when it comes to making bread. Her unusual baking typically turns out to be inedible, and she often runs away crying when Akio insults her bread, unaware she is present. It’s a running gag in the show but shows how playful Sanae can be. She commits herself to the bit as part of their daily routine in their marriage. Sanae deeply loves her husband, both wearing together through a few years of pain and grief.

Tsukasa Yuzaki from TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You

"TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You" anime shot of Tsukasa looking smug with a star close to her face for effect. Her cheeks are blushing as she stares at something off screen.
IMAGE VIA CRUNCHYROLL

Tsukasa Yuzaki is a poor, immortal character. Unknowingly drinking the elixir of life that saved her from an illness, Tsukasa is left roaming the world to pass the time. That is until she saves a boy from being taken by truck-kun,  bagging herself a husband who instantly falls in love with her. A meet-cute that consists of a near-death experience, Nasa and Tsukasa Yuzaki meet under the full snowy moon. The boy Nasa asks cool girl Tsukasa if she would marry him, and she says yes on the spot. This wasn’t on a whim for Tsukasa. She adores her husband and often gets embarrassed at his honest fondness for his wife. The more she spends her married life with Nasa, the more fun and expression she has on her face.
