Fictional book characters often have birthdays that either get mentioned once or are canonized by the author but never stated in the book. But that doesn’t mean these characters don’t fit certain zodiac signs. Today, we’ll discuss some fan favorite book characters that give off Scorpio vibes but aren’t actually Scorpios. As a Scorpio, I am beyond excited to talk about each of these characters, but remember that this is an opinion!
Zodiac signs are a fun way for many people to see what traits they might exhibit. Whether true or not, they can be relatively accurate. Astrology is based on the stars and is a belief system for many spiritual people, so it’s important to be respectful. Before we start, let’s review the common traits assigned to the Scorpio sign. Scorpios’ archetypes often include themes such as: transformation and change, power and control, secrets and mystery, emotional intensity, strong magnetism, revenge, and intense loyalty. There are a lot more, but these are the main ones. Now that we know that, let’s get into it!

Daenerys Targaryen
Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin does not have a confirmed birthday but is guessed to be born around April due to the storm that happened and what she is named after. That would most likely categorize her as an Aries or Taurus; however, everything about her radiates Scorpio energy. Daenerys, the Mother of Dragons, embodies rebirth and transformation. She is burned in one scene, with dragon eggs that have not hatched, and rises from the ashes, unharmed, with baby dragons. This marks the beginning of her change from a woman being married off to one of the most powerful rulers in the series. Her change is mental and physical, as no one has seen a dragon in ages before her. She changes not only herself, but the world.
Not only that, but Daenerys does anything — and I mean anything — for justice. She can be considered cruel, but for the right reasons. As she builds her army, she goes around freeing enslaved people and prostitutes, creating a haven in her kingdom for those who have been wronged many times in the past, physically, mentally, sexually, and verbally. Her reign, for the beginning of it, was built on justice and revenge for everyone who had done her own family wrong. Her loyalty is unwavering, and her power is marked simply by the number of braids in her hair, symbolizing the battles she has won. There is nothing more Scorpio than the Mother of Dragon and Breaker of Chains.
Jude Duarte
Jude Duarte from The Cruel Prince by Holly Black must be a Scorpio. There was a debate about her birthday being November 13, which would fall under Scorpio season; however, Holly Black said it was a lie. Her birthday is unknown now. This doesn’t mean she isn’t a Scorpio. Jude Duarte is a queen of revenge, secrets, and intense emotions. She poisons herself, slowly over time, to build up an immunity so she can kill her fae father, who basically kidnapped her. She kept that secret from everyone, even her sisters, to get revenge on a father she hated.
Not only that, but Jude has extremely intense emotions that inform her actions and cunning behavior. She was bullied most of her time with the fae, and the feelings fed into her love of power and secret schemes. I mean, what is more Scorpio than biding your time and using your magnetic personality and mystery to get people to trust you (and partially ignore you) so that you can surprise an enemy and take them down? Despite being human, she has a stronger power in her dynamic with Cardan. She is so alluring that even one of the most powerful fae is weak to her mystery, beauty, and control.
Aelin Ashryver Galathynius
Aelin Ashryver Galathynius from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas was born on May 3, making her a Taurus. However, Aelin was among the first to come to mind when discussing Scorpio values. She is secretive and an unreliable narrator, hiding her schemes from the reader. She is another picture-perfect character of rebirth in fire as she hides under a different identity and a different life, begins to control the fire in her veins, embraces her true self, and takes her title.
Aelin embodies transformation, secrecy, and mystery and is also known for her intense emotions that lead to intense decisions, usually in the name of revenge and justice. Aelin has gone through a lifetime of horrible situations. She values everyone and would burn people in a stone kingdom just to save her friends. Her loyalty is strong and accurate, and you best believe she has an alluring touch, as almost all her guy friends fell for her. She is the embodiment of a Scorpio.
Mia Corvere
Mia Corvere from Nevernight by Jay Kristoff is another character with no confirmed birthday. Her drive for vengeance and eventual transformation categorize her as a Scorpio in spirit. Mia is consumed by revenge; after all, watching your family get killed is not something you forget easily. Her thirst for revenge begins her story, and her only motive is to avenge her family.
Mia did go through multiple evolutions. Physically, she started to train to be an assassin, but because of that, she had to face her inner demons. It was hard, but it transformed her in ways she never thought possible. She also went from revenge to awareness after questioning whether revenge had consumed too much of her life. Her transformations are precisely the type that are seen in Scorpio archetypes.
Katniss Everdeen
Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is another Taurus, as she was born on May 8. However, judging by her sarcastic nature, intense emotions that guide all her decisions, and sense of justice, she has a Scorpio heart. Katniss does almost everything because of her intensely strong feelings of love and loyalty. She went to The Hunger Games because of this fierce love; she protected Peeta because of it and joined and led a revolution.
Her thirst for justice is just as powerful. She experiences The Hunger Games, how traumatizing and demanding the experience is, and how it never leaves you. She has seen the struggles of the other tributes, making her the perfect person to lead the revolution. Although Coin might’ve slightly manipulated her, she stayed with the revolution because it was right, because everyone deserved a free world, and because she wanted to put the past in the past. Her sense of justice and willingness to do what she needs to achieve it are very Scorpio.
Rhysand
Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas is an odd one out, as he is actually born on November 20, and that would make him a Scorpio. Boy, is he a Scorpio with his mysterious and dark, alluring personality and fierce loyalty. Everything about him is mysterious. I mean, he is the High Lord of the Night Court. There is nothing more mysterious than night, and he has a world of secrets, like how terrifying his animal form is and how his entire court is a lie.
Not only that, but he is extremely loyal. He gave up himself, his choices, and his freedom for his friends and city and used the last of his magic to hide them from the world. The thought of his best friends is what got him through it. He found the love of his life and did everything to take care of her, even when she was with another man. Rhysand is insanely loyal and gives up everything for the people in his life, time and time again.
Geralt of Rivia
Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher: The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski has no canonical birthday, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have those Scorpio vibes. Geralt embodies Scorpio mainly through his emotions. Having intense emotions doesn’t necessarily mean feeling a lot; in Geralt’s case, it’s the opposite side of the spectrum: He’s extremely reserved. He is closed off and very emotionally guarded. He is often calm, even when someone else probably wouldn’t be, and he doesn’t ever let himself feel. That is very Scorpio-coded, despite being the opposite of the other characters mentioned.
That isn’t the only thing, though. He is very loyal to his friends; his bonds are extremely important to him, and nothing can break them. His loyalty and emotions burn through in a chaotic but loving relationship with Yennefer and a protective and quiet bond with Ciri. He would do anything for the two of them, no matter the cost, and that is the type of loyalty we see in Scorpios.
Kaz Brekker
Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is another character who doesn’t have a canonical birthday but radiates Scorpio energy. He lives off control, power, secrets, and vengeance. Kaz needs control over everything: his life, his friends, his schemes. He almost values his control most, if it weren’t for the secrets and the vengeance. His secrets get him through all the heists he pulls, and they’re how he gains the upper hand on the people around him.
Vengeance is Kaz’s greatest motivation. His trauma and his past changed him forever, and he will never stop getting revenge. It was never just about removing Pekka Rollins from his life. It was about wiping the wound from his memory, forgetting it all, and eradicating the problem so well that it would never bother him again. He might simply need therapy, but either way, it’s still very Scorpio of him.
