Romance doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes the most enchanting moments are the most simple and thoughtful ones, like sharing a cozy movie night in or enjoying dinner under the stars. These six enchanting book-inspired dates remind us that some of the most romantic date ideas come from our favorite romance books. If you’re looking for something new, hopefully this list will spark an idea!

1. The Rowboat Romance – The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

The rowboat date scene from The Notebook is both iconic and swoonworthy, and very few scenes have come close to the love that you feel through the pages while reading. Now, picture you and your significant other as you both drift across a serene lake while being surrounded by softly swaying trees and the comforting sounds of nature. Hopefully you won’t run into a surprise rainstorm on the way — or maybe it’ll be a good thing if you’re into the dramatics. This date is timeless and full of southern charm, and whether you rent a rowboat or just plan a picnic on the water, this date will definitely be one to remember.

2. A Walk and a Picnic – Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Penguin Classics book cover of "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. A thoughtful woman with dark hair rests her head on her hand, holding an open book. She wears a white dress, set against a soft backdrop.

One of my favorite dates is a good picnic and a beautiful countryside walk, as it’s simple yet meaningful. This is a date inspired by Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy’s romantic moment strolling through the English landscape as they have slow conversation while enjoying beautiful views and quiet connection. So grab your significant other, pack a basket with all your favorite goodies, find a shady spot under a tree, and let the love unfold like a classic Jane-Austen-written scene.

3. Moonlit Dinner – A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Feyre and Rhysand’s dreamy nights in Velaris were some of my favorite scenes to read, and their moonlit dinners always sounded so delicious. Whether you’re enjoying dinner on a balcony, rooftop, or just in your backyard under the stars, set the mood even further with soft lights and candles. A moonlit dinner is the perfect romantic and ethereal setting to bring fantasy to life and is ideal for those deep conversations, secrets, and an evening that feels straight from the Night Court.

4. Stargazing and Snacks – The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

Hazel and Gus’s story still breaks my heart to this day, but this quiet and heartfelt date is all about finding beauty in the simplest of things. Whether your setting is a park, rooftop, or just your backyard, you can enjoy a night filled with meaningful conversation and a connection that will linger long after the stars disappear from the sky.

5. Library Hideaway – Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Kaz and Inez shared lots of quiet yet meaningful moments in the Six of Crows duology, and a library creates the perfect setting for you and your significant other to do the same. A library hideaway combines intrigue, intimacy, and a shared love of books, allowing you to lose yourself in a story with your partner at your side. You and your partner can share whispered conversations and stolen glances as you capture the quiet tension and connection that makes your bond unforgettable.

6. Movie Night In – Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Book cover for "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes features a pink sky with clouds and an orange sun, a yellow house amid green hills, a path winding through a field, and a bee in the foreground.

Lou and Will shared many cozy nights in Me Before You, and a movie night is full of comfort, laughter, and soothing silence. So click start on your favorite movie, lay down with your comfiest blankets and go-to snacks, and enjoy a night full of cozy, quiet time with your favorite person in the world!
