For this week’s Three to Read, we are looking at three books that have taken the book world by storm in 2022.
by Jennette McCurdy
Known for her role as Sam in the television shows iCarly and Sam and Cat, Jennette McCurdy is sharing her journey from being a child star to becoming a healing and growing young woman. She shares her complicated relationship with her mother, addiction, eating disorder, and how she was treated on and off set. McCurdy also discusses therapy and how she took control of her life after losing her mother to cancer.
Jennette McCurdy’s debut memoir has a touch of her humor within the story of her heartbreaking road to recovery. The book’s popularity has only grown larger after the release of the cover, details of her mother, and what she was pressured to do as a child. McCurdy’s memoir is set to release on August 9, 2022.

Bix Bouton has created a new form of technology: Own Your Unconscious. It allows people access to all their memories, and can even exchange their own for someone else’s. Over a span of several decades, readers are introduced through short stories to multiple characters whose lives intersect and connect through the consequences of Own Your Unconscious. Whether they are exploiting or genuinely using this technology, all must realize the price that needs to be paid to get what they want.
In this standalone sequel to the Goon Squad series, Jennifer Egan has created a novel that resonates with humanity, a need for privacy, and family. Similarly to Emezi’s novel, The Candy House was named a Most Anticipated Book of the Year by Vulture, Time, and Vogue, among others. It was also featured as one of Barack Obama’s summer favorites.
