Further, it takes a while for her to open up to someone due to her high value of trustworthiness.
Bella Swan
The most iconic introvert from my childhood! Bella Swan is a great representation of softer-spoken introverts in comparison to Katniss Everdeen. Bella thrives in the quiet parts of life. She doesn’t enjoy parties or going wild but rather enjoys a quiet evening with her two or three friends. Lucky for her, she’s able to find another introvert to spend eternity with!
Beth Harmon
Truly, truly, truly a perfect representation of introverts: Beth Harmon. Beth Harmon from The Queen’s Gambit is a masterful chess player as well as a homebody. She keeps to herself, even during moments of great success, and prefers to focus on her passion for chess in her way rather than act like the boisterous proud mouths she runs into along her journey. Even in relationships, she strives to create a strong separation and sets into one with the intent of the continued valuing of her alone time.
Lara Jean
A sweetheart in the introverted community, Lara Jean. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is a darling of a book, and Lara Jean makes an incredibly sweet main character. Loving most to write and read, Lara Jean finds herself quite quiet outside of conversations with her sisters or friends. Deeply connected to her emotions and placing great value in her tight-knit relationships, Lara takes some time to open up (even to her pretend boyfriend) because of the importance she places on trust, respect, and love.
Jo March
Jo March is happy enough to be outgoing with her sisters and her mother; however, when it comes to being talkative or even approachable outside of this group, Jo’s personality dwindles slightly. Her quirkiness drives her passion, and her unwavering love for writing is a true testament to her character and a staple of introvertedness. Jo, much like Katniss, is a strong-minded individual who is more than happy to remain in their comfort zone.
Unnamed Main Character of My Year of Rest and Relaxation
Need I say more? The unnamed main character of My Year of Rest and Relaxation chooses her own personal wants to stay home over everything else. She desires nothing more than to stay at home without obligation and without others to be able to relax. Does this not sound like every one of us introverts? The very simple detail that to restore her battery, she must spend time alone is the perfect representation of introverts.
These characters are the perfect representation of introverts. Not only that, but they are some of the most iconic characters in the bookish community! They remind us that, despite not wanting to be the center of attention, sometimes, we can still be the main character.
