Airing in 2007 and lasting for four seasons, Wizards of Waverly Place was certainly a big part of some of our childhoods. The Russos were cool, quirky, and in some ways relatable, especially in the family dynamic aspect. A working-class family living in a big city, just trying to make it by. They argued, and they made up, fought again, and then made up again, yet always still showing love. But, of course, they had one tiny secret. Their magic!
Well, their magic will soon be returning to our screens in a reboot called Wizards. According to CBS News, Selena Gomez and David Henrie, who played siblings Alex and Justin in the original, will be producers of the pilot episode.
While Gomez will only be on for the pilot, Henrie is set to appear as Justin on a regular basis. Beside Henrie will be new faces, Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos.
The reboot pilot was written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, who also helped produce another Disney reboot, Raven’s Home. The story will follow Justin, who similarly to his father Jerry, gave up his powers, leading a normal life with his family. That is until a new wizard in training, Billie, played by Janice LeAnn Brown, shows up at Justin’s door, forcing him to take her under his wing.
Both Gomez and Henrie posted about the reboot online, Henrie saying it is set to air sometime in 2024, so fans should definitely keep an eye out!
