This has been a debate since 2021: Will Coraline be getting a sequel adaptation? There have been theories and several claims about the ideas and story direction it could take if Neil Gaiman took on the challenge. However, it’s time to put the back and forth to rest.
Coraline: The Chilling Plot
As many fans of the movie know, Coraline is about a girl who just moved into a new home. She’s been neglected and feels isolated from her busy parents. Then she stumbles upon a magic door that leads into a different type of dimension, where her parents and all the neighbors of the house adore her and give her attention. It all seems like she is getting everything she wanted, until realizing there is a dark being who doesn’t want to let her go back home. Can Coraline use her bravery to save her family and get her life back?
Neil Gaiman’s Twitter Response
After hearing all the buzz about a Coraline 2, Neil Gaiman responded to a fan on Twitter saying:
I’m waiting for a Coraline story that’s as good as or better than Coraline. There’s no point in making something less than the first book or movie”
