There’s no denying that friendship is one of the most important parts of life. Friends are precious — even if they were originally enemies, or people we didn’t get along with. After all, today’s enemies can be tomorrow’s friends, and even though it may not be an easy transition, the result can be beautiful, like in the examples below.
Emily and Andy from The Devil Wears Prada

Okay, maybe they weren’t friends exactly, but they’re certainly closer in the end. To be fair, Emily always did look out for Andy. She would purposefully give Andy the easier jobs, and she told Andy what she needed to do for each task so she wouldn’t mess up. While Andy did betray her by going to Paris — even though she was threatened with losing her job — Emily did begrudgingly forgive her after Andy gave her the clothes she got while in Paris. So, frenemies? Maybe?
Aelin and Lysandra from Throne of Glass

Based on their interactions in The Assassin’s Blade, seeing these two become friends was the last thing most of us expected. But they’re really so much more alike than they thought, and they work well together. Once they’re a bit more comfortable with being friends, they start teasing each other, lending emotional support, and relying on the other for all sorts of tasks. Like when Lysandra shifts and pretends to be Aelin after Aelin is captured, enduring not only the stress but also the wrath of their few allies who know? True friendship.
Lucy and Flare from Fairy Tail

Flare is manipulative and horrible to Lucy at first — she may have been manipulated and taken advantage of herself, though that’s certainly no excuse. But after realizing what she’s done, she does eventually apologize. And Lucy, being the overly forgiving person that she is, immediately forgives Flare, even helping her save her village. Beyond that, there isn’t much interaction between them, but their new friendship shines strong.
Gaara and Naruto from Naruto

Gaara behaves like a monster at first, after being treated like one for so long by everyone around him. Naruto, who lives in an enemy village, has endured the same treatment, and he reaches out when he sees how much Gaara’s suffering. He gets through to him, even though they’re enemies, and changes his life. Their friendship is the most precious, wonderful thing in the whole series, and it’s great to see how they influence and inspire each other.
Maka and Crona from Soul Eater

Crona never wants to be enemies from the start, but Medusa is abusive, manipulative, and extremely controlling, so Crona has no choice. When Maka realizes this, she decides to try and bring Crona over and protect them. She doesn’t want to hurt Crona, and instead becomes the main person they depend on — their first friend. From then on, the two continue to support each other as best they can.
It just goes to show that friends can come from anywhere — even enemies.
