Henry Cavill revealed he knew nothing of the author’s choice at the time!

Cavil continued with how he felt about the idea of playing the role of Edward Cullen, “I was like, ‘Oh okay, that would have been cool.'”

The Twilight movies definitely would not have been the same without Robert Pattinson playing the role of Edward Cullen, but it is fun to imagine what it would have been like with Cavill on the big screen. The actor shared that while he didn’t compete with Pattinson for the role of Edward, he actually did lose a different role to the Twilight star. Cavill auditioned for the part of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Cavill commented in the podcast interview,

“Yes, I remember that,” Cavill recalled. “I definitely auditioned for that one and did not get it.” He continues, “I think I was probably 19 or 20, and that makes a big difference when you’re playing a kid in high school,” Cavill said, before joking, “Well, it used to anyway.”
