As Jennifer Weltz of John V. Nagger Literary steps down as president of the Association of American Literary Agents, Regina Brooks of Serendipity Literary steps in as Weltz’s elected successor.
Brooks is no stranger to taking on a top role within the AALA. In 2020, she served as vice president and co-chaired the creation of the communications committee, leading the organization’s rebranding. Brooks, in her VP capacity, helped to organize the U.S. Book Show’s 2023 and 2024 program track. Additionally, she is one of the founding members of the AALA’s nonprofit, Literary Agents of Change, as well as on the board of the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP).
About Regina Brooks
As founder and CEO of the largest African American owned agency in the country, Brooks has established quite a reputation in the literary world. Her award-winning authors, many of whom come from diverse backgrounds, have appeared in top editorial papers from USA Today to the Washington Post, and on a host of broadcasting networks from TV One and NBC to CBS and BET. She’s been nominated as a PW Star Watch Finalist by Publishers Weekly, and Reader’s Digest Magazine named Serendipity Lit as one of the Top 25 Literary Agencies. She herself is the author of Never Finished, Never Done, an Essence Magazine’s quick pick children’s book. And, while this is merely a brief summary of her many accomplishments, it is worth noting that Brooks was also named Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women.
