2024 has brought us a collection of great new reads! Fiction has been an absolute hit this year, with incredible titles from both new and seasoned authors. One of the biggest releases this year came from Salley Rooney’s novel, Intermezzo, released in September. Though fiction has swept the book community — nonfiction has also created a stir in the book community. We readers have been dealt a great deal of impressive books this year, and it’s been like Christmas all year-round! Speaking of the wintertime, there are still many amazing titles yet to come. Ocean: History of the Atlantic before Columbus by John Haywood
The ocean is still largely a mystery to explorers. With the vast amount of it completely unexplorable, a deep dive (no pun intended) into the creation of the ocean allows for some of that mystery to be solved. Written by John Haywood, author of Atlas of World History and Northmen: The Viking Saga, Ocean: History of the Atlantic before Columbus, introduces readers to a world just outside their coastline. I Will Scream To The World by Jaha Marie Dukureh
In her fantastically poignant memoir, Jaha Marie Dukureh has lived a life to be marveled and praised. She has written this memoir as a way to share her story and inspire hope in young girls everywhere. Covering topics like her experience growing up in Gambia and child marriage, Dukureh doesn’t shy away from difficult topics but instead creates visibility and encourages activism. Truly an incredible story and told by the woman herself, this memoir is one that is a must-have to be added to your TBR. Release Date: December 24, 2024.
Oathbreakers: The War of Brothers That Shattered an Empire and Made Medieval Europe by David M. Perry and Matthew Gabriele
Said to be the real-life Game of Thrones, this book tells the story of two brothers who altered the trajectory of Europe in the ninth century. Agent Zo: The Untold Story of a Fearless World War II Resistance Fighter by Clare Mulley
Clare Mulley has brought us a collection of historical nonfiction that sheds light on passed over women from the past. Agent Zo: The Untold Story of a Fearless World War II Resistance Fighter is set to be an incredible addition to her library. The book tells of Elzbieta Zawacka — a resistance fighter in World War II who was the only woman to join the Polish Special Forces.
