Netflix finally released the first teaser for the long-anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Knives Out. This new mystery comes after Netflix spent a whopping $469 million acquiring the rights for two sequel films after the unexpected success of the first movie. Rian Johnson is back as the director of the first of the two sequels. Glass Onion features a talented cast of characters gathered on a Greek Island as part of a getaway planned by billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton). The trailer puts Daniel Craig at the center of chaos as he investigates his friends for a murder that happens on the island.
The story in this teaser seems to take on a more intense, action-filled path than the first. Dave Bautista, Kathryn Hahn, and Janelle Monáe look like they work on puzzles. Madelyn Cline holds up what looks like a pitchfork. Daniel Craig narrates, “Lock your doors. Stay in your rooms. Everyone is in danger.” The secluded nature of the murder makes the mystery much more exciting – it means the killer is right there with them. It has the psychological power that a murder mystery should have while adding the suspense of a thriller. And this time, the focus is on Benoit Blanc, so we get a more in-depth look at his peculiar character. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on December 23, 2022.
