Back to school is here and with Halloween just around the corner, I’ve compiled a list of horror and spooky items that are must haves to fit right in! From ultra spooky, to not too scary this list has it all.
1. Room/ Desk Decorations
You can’t go wrong with a change in decoration and setting, and what better time to do it than now? If you’re anything like me and like little ornaments and lights, this option will help you channel your creativity as well as enjoy writing at your desk and in your bedroom. One of my favourite pieces of decoration I will recommend is the ‘Caution Do Not Enter’ tape. It’s both an excuse to look cool for Halloween and to actually keep people out of your room whilst you study! Amazon sells them for quite cheap and with their bright yellow colour, you really can’t miss them and neither can anyone else.

Another great idea for decoration would be Shein’s adorable Pumpkin vases that hold artificial flowers and are great for anyone trying to match the Halloween colour scheme. Put them on your desk, on a bookshelf or even on your bedside drawer, you will not fail to impress anyone with these awfully aesthetic looking pumpkins. If I were to buy these, I’d also use them as paper weights, pretty, pumpkin, paper weights!
The final must have horror, back to school decoration is a horror finger pen holder. Get rid of that old one! Temu offers a very spooky looking pen holder that can perfectly sit on the side of your desk when you need it. It’s fun, creepy and looks like it’s straight from a horror movie.

2. Horror Bookish Hampers
Can’t make your mind up about what to get and what not to get? Don’t you worry! Etsy and other platforms sell handmade hampers in which an assortment of different items can be purchased in one go. TaylerMadeTreasures on Etsy, sells the perfect horror book hamper for all of the Halloween and book fanatics out there. The hamper includes a book sleeve, reading care package, wristlet, bookmark, and even a tall thriller glass perfect for hot chocolate and reading sessions. Not only will you be ready for the Autumn festivities, but you’ll also be prepared for the term at school.

3. Skeleton Pens
I didn’t even realize that these were a thing until I searched for Horror school supplies. It’s safe to say that any Harry Potter Death Eater fans will love this one. Skeleton pens come in all different shapes, sizes, and details, but my favorite has to be Etsy’s Skull Head Pen, which can be personalized just for you! The pen is a long, thin pen adorned with colorful gem-like crystals with an eerie-looking skeleton head at the end of it. Even if it wasn’t Halloween season, I’d be getting this. I wouldn’t say it’s the creepiest-looking skeleton pen out there, but it’s definitely the most beautiful and glamorous looking. Write with style this Halloween!

4. Harry Potter merch
Let’s be honest: spooky season really means Harry Potter merch. Luckily for you, I managed to find a great website full of unique Harry Potter items. The Geek Side offers a range of amazing Harry Potter-themed merch for however horrifying you want them to be. At least horrid, they sell cool tote bags like the “I Would Rather Be At Hogwarts“ one. At most horrid, they’ve got Death Eater mask key rings that will make your skin crawl with the amount of detail they have. Amazon and Etsy also offer a wide range of horror Harry Potter merch, perfect if you want to enter school scarier.

5. Horror Books
Every book lover needs a good horror recommendation to get them through the first term but to also compliment the Halloween theme. I can’t wait to read House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig this Autumn! People who are interested in ghosts, this one’s for you. The book follows Annaleigh, who after witnessing four tragic deaths becomes increasingly suspicious that they were no accident. She is haunted by weird, ghostly visions and tries to warn her sisters not to go to the lavish balls and dances that they have been doing as she is unsure of who- or what- they’re actually dancing with. The fantasy, horror book’s aesthetic is so intriguing to me.
Goodreads is the one of the best places I go to try and find my next and upcoming read. Check it out and see what suits you best!

I hope that the above list has made back to school shopping a little more intriguing and unusual. Good luck students and I hope you get to take some of this fun back to school with you!
