Saint Patrick’s Day is coming up on Friday and there are many ways to celebrate the holiday if you so choose. If you’re not one for large crowds, spending money, or going out in general, or if you need a pre-game idea, these six movie adaptations come with drinking games that can make your St. Patty’s day even more fun.
1. The Wolf of Wall Street
In September of 2007, Bantam Books published Jordan Belfort’s novel The Wolf of Wall Street. In 2013, Paramount Pictures released the film The Wolf of Wall Street directed by Martin Scorsese and starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort. The movie became Scorsese’s highest-grossing film internationally, bringing in about $406 million. This movie definitely offers one of the most fun drinking games, and there are many different versions and ways to play, but these rules are sure to guarantee a fun night.

Drink every time:
- Someone says the ‘F’ word.
- Someone snorts something.
- Someone says “Quaalude.”
- Someone gives the middle finger.
- Someone is called by their nickname.
- Someone picks up a phone.
Take two sips every time:
- There is some sort of nudity.
- Someone drinks alcohol.
- Someone is having sex.
- Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) loses his temper.
Chug:
- Whenever people are chanting, chug for as long as the chant goes on.
Take a shot when:
- Jordan Belfort (NOT Leonardo DiCaprio) is seen on screen.
- Leonardo DiCaprio talks to the audience and breaks the fourth wall.
- The yacht sinks.
If you don’t think this will get you sufficiently drunk, you can take it up a notch by drinking every time someone cusses, which is constantly.
2. The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins was published in September 2008 by Scholastic. The film was released by Lionsgate in 2012 and brought in about $152 million in the U.S. during its opening week. There are many different ways to play this drinking game, but here’s a version that will ensure you’re drunk. This movie became so popular in pop culture that there are even cocktail recipes for each character.

- Someone gets injured but doesn’t die.
- Katniss fires an arrow.
- A Mockingjay pin is shown.

- The movie deviates from the book.
- Effie changes her outfit.
Drink twice every time:
- Someone says, “May the odds be ever in your favor.”
- Haymitch drinks.
- The three finger salute or defiant whistle is seen or heard.
- Someone dies.
- Someone is in a tree.
- A cannon is heard.
- Peeta is holding a baked good.
- Katniss and Peeta kiss.
- Katniss shoots the apple.
Chug when:
- Haymitch speaks, chug for as long as he is speaking.
- A game master speaks to the arena, chug for as long as they are speaking.
- Katniss and Peeta are on fire, chug for as long as they are on fire.
- Chug for the duration of the cornucopia montage.
Take a shot when:
- The Hunger Games start.
- A winner is chosen.
Pour one out when:
- Rue dies.
3. Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton was published by Random House Publishing Group in 1990. The movie was released in June 1993 by Universal Pictures. The movie brought in about $914 million internationally and its accompanying drinking game is sure to get you wasted.

- Hammond says, “Spare no expense.”
- Anyone mentions chaos theory.
- Something or someone falls.
- A dinosaur is on screen.

- Ray Arnold speaks while a cigarette is in his mouth.
- Someone says, “Life finds a way.”
- The Jurassic Park logo is shown.
- You think one of the kids is going to die.
Chug when:
- The T-Rex chases the Jeep, chug for the duration of the chase.
- The helicopter first lands on the island, chug for the duration of the landing.
- The Jurassic Park theme music is played, chug for the duration of the music.
Take a shot when:
- The lawyer gets eaten.
- Jeff Goldblum annoys you.
- The water cups in the Jeep ripple when the T-Rex is approaching.
4. Dune
Dune by Frank Herbert was published in 1965 by Chilton Books. There was a Dune movie released in 1984; however, it wasn’t very successful at the time. In March of 2021, Warner Bros. Pictures released the new version of Dune the movie starring Timothée Chalamet. The movie brought in roughly $400 million internationally. This drinking game will serve as the perfect pregame to a fun night out, although, beware, the movie run time is about 2.5 hours.

- Someone says, “Arrakis.”
- Someone says, “Spice.”
- A worm or evidence of a worm is shown.
- The music intensely swells.
- A bull is referenced or shown.
- A blade is exchanged between two people or shown on the ground.
- Fremen looks directly at the camera.
- A weird hat is being worn by a character.
Drink twice every time:
- Paul (Timmy Chalamet) is shirtless.
- Chani (Zendaya) is shown but does not have any lines.
- The voice is heard.
- Paul becomes giddy when he sees Duncan (Jason Mamoa).
Chug when:
- Paul’s hand is in the box, chug for the duration of time his hand is in there.
- There’s a bagpipe shown.
- The Sardaukar float to the ground with swords, chug for the duration of the floating.
- The soldiers chant, “Atreides,” chug for the duration of the chant.
Take a shot when:
- Barron Vladimir Harkonnen escapes death.
- Thufir Hawat uses his umbrella.
- A random person tells Paul that he is the one or whispers something in an unrecognizable language to him.
5. Les Misérables
Les Misérables by Victor Hugo was published in 1862 by Lacroix, Verboeckhoven & Co. The movie was released in 1998 but wasn’t super successful, so in 2012 Universal Pictures released a newer version. The movie brought in over $18 million internationally and its accompanying drinking game will definitely get you sloshed.

- Hugh Jackman adds an unnecessary vibrato.
- Someone says, “24601.”
- Someone says, “Cosette.”
- General Lamarque is brought up.

- Someone cries.
- A French flag is shown.
- Someone talks about the color red.
- Someone talks about the color black.
Chug when:
- A new song begins, chug for the duration of the song.
- The bishop appears, chug for the duration of his screen-time.
Take a shot when:
- Someone dies (can apply to everyone or only main characters).
- An elephant is shown.
- A cow is shown.
6. Twilight
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer was published in 2005 by Little, Brown and Company. Summit Entertainment released the movie in 2008. The film brought in about $393 million internationally. This drinking game is sure to get you drunk.

- Bella touches her hair.
- Bella stammers.
- Bella bites her lip.
- Someone talks about Arizona.
- Bella or Edward awkwardly smile.
- Charlie seems uncomfortable.

- Edward and Bella stare at each other in silence.
- Someone shows a police badge.
- A vampire hisses.
- Bella trips.
- A character cocks their head to one side.
Chug when:
- A vampire sparkles, chug until the sparkling ends.
Take a shot when:
- You feel awkward or have second-hand embarrassment for a character.
- Edward does something that most people would define as creepy/possessive/toxic but Bella thinks is romantic.
