‘Mayfair Witches’: New Anne Rice Adaptation Trailer Released

AMC released the trailer for their new Anne Rice adaptation ‘Mayfair Witches’ starring Alexandra Daddario. Here is what we know so far!

Put on your best witch hat. AMC revealed the trailer for their new Anne Rice adaptation Mayfair Witches. The series stars Alexandra Daddario and is based on Rice’s trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches. Here is what we know so far about the upcoming witchy series!

AMC’s new series premieres January 8, 2023, exclusively on AMC+, beginning with the first two episodes. Each episode after will release on a weekly basis. Lives of the Mayfair Witches is a supernatural/horror fantasy that follows a family of witches who are haunted by a spirit named Lasher. The first season will follow the first book in the trilogy, The Witching Hour.

The new adaptation stars Alexandra Daddario as she plays a young neurosurgeon who finds out she comes from a line of witches. Everyday news for all of us, right? This suspenseful first look of the upcoming series is packed with action and horror. We see Rowan, played by Daddario, try and juggle emotions and everything that comes with being a witch. This includes a spooky spirit that haunts the lives of your relatives for a very long time. Watch the trailer below!

Alongside Daddario (Rowan), the series stars Jack Huston (Lasher), Tongayi Chirisa (Ciprien), and Harry Hamlin (Cortland Mayfair), amongst many others. This is AMC’s second Anne Rice adaptation after Interview With the Vampire premiered earlier this week.

According to Variety, AMC gained the rights to both novel series in 2020. They also reported,

“Anne Rice, who died in December 2021, and her son Christopher serve as executive producers on all films and series developed under the deal with AMC.”

It is comforting to know the iconic gothic novelist and her son are involved. Need more comfort? Variety released this quote from Anne Rice before her passing:

“It’s always been my dream to see the worlds of my two biggest series united under a single roof so that filmmakers could explore the expansive and interconnected universe of my vampires and witches. That dream is now a reality and the result is one of the most significant and thrilling deals of my long career.”
