Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is set as a completely different story from the first. Though southern detective Benoit Blanc returns from the original cast, he deals with an entirely new case and new characters, this time in Greece.
Tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites his close friends to get away on a private Greek island, but when someone turns up dead, it’s clear even close friends can’t be trusted. Other details about the mystery are under wraps, but the cast isn’t one of them.

Johnson put together a cast just as incredible as the first, with Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, and Ethan Hawke on the list. In an interview with Netflix, he also revealed that Blanc gets more attention this time as he’s one of the invited guests in the film. “We’re very much meeting these people and getting into this world through his eyes.”
Netflix is in charge of Glass Onion’s global release on December 23, following the premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Seeing as Glass Onion is cohesive to the universe but not a continuation of all the same characters and stories, it’s possible more will come from the Knives Out world.
