Katelyn Taylor is the author of Gratify, Gallows Hill Trilogy, The Alphaletes, Jagged Hearts, and her best seller, Graves. What makes this author stand out from most other dark romance authors is her ability to fluidly connect many different popular tropes into one story. After reading her books and reflecting on the unique creativity and diversity of the characters in Katelyn’s books, we wanted to know if any of her characters or stories reflected who she was outside of writing. Come with us to delve into the mind of Katelyn!
About Katelyn Taylor
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest (PNW), Katelyn writes spicy romance tropes with a twist. When she isn’t writing toe-curling smut or heart-wrenching angst, she’s baking, spending time with her two young children, or ignoring the ever-growing pile of laundry.

Thank you, Katelyn, let’s get started!
In your new book, Deliverance, Maggie likes candle making, which made me wonder what hobbies you have outside of writing?
I play volleyball! I did it all through my childhood and still play in a league.

In your book, Gratify, I noticed a lot of talk about zodiac signs. Do you have an interest in astrology? What is your sign?
I do! I am a Cancer sun, a Cancer rising, and an Aquarius moon, which tells you way more about me than you need to know. Lol.

I read on your website that you love to bake. What is your favorite bakery item, and which of your characters do you think would embody it?
Chocolate chip cookies are the tried and true! Any of my sweet MMCs like Slater, Declan, Liam, etc.
Throughout your books, I have noticed that you like to use as many taboo tropes as possible, which I love. Which trope would be your favorite to write about and why?
Age gap is always king for me! It pairs with every trope!
Conversely, what is a trope you haven’t used? What is a trope you will avoid and why?
I haven’t written Secret Baby and don’t see myself ever doing so. The frustration that trope causes me is real!
Your most recent book, Deliverance, is a sapphic romance, and I know that your Gallows Hill trilogy also has LGBTQ+ content. Can we anticipate any plans to explore other aspects of LGBTQ+ identities and relationships?
It’s very possible!!
It seems that you are experimenting with new tropes as you progress in writing. This makes me wonder if your readers can expect to receive more Dark Romance books in the future, or do you have any other genres/tropes in mind?
I like to write a mix of genres to not only keep readers engaged but to ensure I don’t get bored as well! So you never know what will be next!
