The time is upon us. HBO’s House of the Dragon is premiering on HBO on August 21st. The series wrapped up filming the prequel for Game of Thrones earlier this year in London, and they have finally settled on a date for airing.
But that is not the only thing they have released… They have also come out with some fresh snippets from the new series.
The series takes place 200 years before the events taking place in the Emmy-winning series Game of Thrones, and it will chronicle the days ruled under the Targaryen empire in Westeros. Specifically, House of the Dragon adapts the events leading up to and surrounding the Dance of the Dragons, which is the name given to a damaging civil war that broke out amongst the Targaryens over the succession of the Iron Throne.
We have also gotten a look at the cast: Princess Rhaenyra (played by Emma D’Arcy), the firstborn of ruler King Viserys (Paddy Considine); her uncle Prince Daemon (played by Matt Smith); Hand of the King Otto Hightower (played by Rhys Ifans) and his daughter Alicent (Olivia Cooke); and Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) who is also known as the Sea Snake, the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros.
Now, here are some iconic photos that make us excited to see the premiere of House of the Dragon!
