Fantasy Recommendations Romance
Purple background with three book covers. On, an image of a mermaid, a dagger, a blue flower, and flower boarders on the right bottom and top left corners. The first book cover says "To Kill a Kingdom," and has tentacles of an octopus holding a knife. The second cover is purple with a man and woman in wedding attire with the title, "Unfortunately Yours." There is also an orange cat laying down. The third cover says "Powerless," and has leaves and blue flowers covering a silver knife.

My recommendations have all sorts of twists and turns, but there is only one theme: romance. I’m a massive, hopeless romantic; truthfully, I always have been. The little girl in me always has a racing heart when I get a new romance novel to read. It’s something that I can always pick up, no matter what my mood is, and be in pure bliss. So, in honor of romance, here are five of my favorite love stories that have to do with convenient marriages, sirens falling in love with pirates, The Queen of Hearts’ backstory, and much more!

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

If you’re like me, you have often wondered why The Queen of Hearts is so… heartless. Well, be prepared for a jaw-dropping, heart-throbbing, wonderful tale about Cath and the court jester, Jest. Cath is just a girl who wanted to own a bakery, and Jest… well, he wanted her heart. During their secret meetings, they eventually fall into a love so powerful, it almost seems to be perfect, but what happens when love just isn’t enough to save their story? Read and find out.

All black background with red vines and a crown in the middle. The title "Heartless" with a dagger used as the T is in the middle.

This book was also turned into a musical that can be found on Marissa Meyer’s Instagram bio! It is absolutely fantastic, so be sure to check it out!

To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

Sirens and pirates come together in this fantastic novel. According to her mother, Princess Lira of the sirens messes up big time and is then turned into a human. She has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s strong heart and stay a human forever.

Prince Elian, a prince and a pirate; what more could a girl want? When he rescues a fiery woman from the ocean, she sees more than what meets the eye. Somehow, she knows the key to the destruction of all sirens, but what happens when trust isn’t the only thing that breaks? Read on and find out what lies in the pages of this sensational novel!

An all blue background with the title "To Kill a Kingdom, "is in gold. It also has tentacles of an octopus holding a knife.

Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey

Winery heiress Natalia Vos Napa suggests a marriage that would be convenient for August Cats to finance her new business idea. Of course, he is the one man she can’t stand after losing her job and her fiancé all at once. Even though August knows absolutely nothing about wine, he inherited his late friend’s vineyard and is determined to make it successful, even if that means marrying and taking advice from the woman who despises him.

Tessa Bailey wrote the perfect spicy summer romance book that you won’t want to end!

The background is all purple with a man and woman in wedding attire looking at each other. The title, is in white and says "Unfortunately Yours." There is also an orange cat laying down looking up at the man and woman.

Powerless by Laura Roberts

When Paeydn, an Ordinary girl with an obsession with sticky buns, finds herself saving a prince, she is then thrown into what the kingdom of Ilya calls the Purging Trials. These trials are for the Elite, those with extraordinary powers that show their strongest powers, funny enough, Paedyn has none. Find out if she will survive the Trials, or if the prince whom she saved will, if and when he finds out she is an impostor of the kingdom. Will they be fools for each other, or will they pretend their feelings aren’t there? Read and find out!

Be sure to check out the rest of The Powerless Trilogy! Happy reading!

The middle of this says "Powerless," in all white and has leaves and purplish blue flowers covering a silver dagger.

Hyde and Seek by Layla Frost

Bikers and cupcakes. That’s what you’ll find within the pages of this intriguing novel. Piper Skye is the perfect heroine with baking skills that are sure to make you want to buy a Kitchen Aid, commentary that will make you giggle, and dedication to her passions. Jake Hyde, the owner of a car repair garage, supposedly cares more about his work until Piper walks into the shop. Well, let’s just say he certainly cares about taking care of her just a little more.

The best part about this book is that neither of these characters is perfect. They have insecurities, moments of doubt, personal challenges, and changes, and they teach each other new ways to handle situations and communicate. I don’t know about you, but I think books with development are simply the best. This book is a standalone, but can be read as a series with the rest of the Hyde books.

The background is purple and has the title Hyde and Seek in blue at the top. A man and woman are leaning against a car with a platter of cupcakes on the rear end of it. There is a tool station in the background.
