Welcome, Hattie! Let’s start the interview!
Where are you from?
When and why did you start Bookstagram?
I started my Bookstagram account in September 2021 after I started reading during the summer before. I started by watching Book TikToks and then slowly made my way over to Instagram, where I would scroll for hours. That’s when I knew it was time for me to start my own, so I had somewhere to share my love and meet bookish friends!
How would you describe your account’s aesthetic/why did you choose it?
I have been through a few phases with my aesthetic, but I now primarily post reels, mainly including pastels and pinks. I only read romance, so the covers always seem to be quite aesthetic. I mainly post days in my life and reviews.
What are some books on your 2024 TBR list?
SO SO many:
- The Cloverleigh Farms Series by Melanie Harlow
- Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage
- Boys of Tommon Series by Chloe Walsh
Any fun facts about yourself that your followers may not know?
I am a student pediatric nurse in my 3rd and final year and will graduate this summer! I am looking to get a job in the neonatal intensive care unit.
What are some of your favorite books/series?
- OBSESSED with the Chestnut Springs Series by Elsie Silver
- Mindf*ck Series by S.T Abbey
- Grimstone by Sophie Lark
What are you currently reading? How are you liking it?
I’m currently reading Pucking Around by Emily Rath, and I’m loving it so far!! I definitely see the hype, but it’s so chunky!”
What author would you love to meet?
Sophie Lark would be an absolute dream to meet.
What does Bookstagram mean to you?
Bookstagram is such a special place for me. I feel like it’s such a lovely community where I can talk about anything and everything whenever I need to. I have definitely met some special people thanks to Bookstagram.
Who are some of your favorite Bookstagrammers?
Do you have a favorite bookstore where you’re from?
Any advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers?
Don’t put too much pressure on what you post. It tends to suck the fun out of it when you get too worried about your feed looking perfect.
When it comes to social media, it can be a bit daunting to start your own page to share your thoughts with others. In the book world, everyone is open and very ready to hear all about your book recommendations! If you ever make an account, make sure to check out Hattie as well as Bookstr’s other Bookstagrammers of the Week!
