Guillermo del Toro’s anthology series, Cabinet of Curiosities, based on his short story by the same name, is packed with sinister spins from gothic to grotesque, and the traditional horror genre gets a facelift. According to TV Line, Netflix will start streaming some of the first episodes on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022. However, it will be a four-day event. A Thematic Director
Guillermo del Toro is a Mexican director, screenwriter, and producer, who has made a horror and fantasy collection all his own with stories like Pan’s Labyrinth, Crimson Peak, The Shape of Water, Nightmare Alley, and so much more. More recently, Guillermo del Toro released a darker spin on the classic tale of Pinocchio with the new animated film by the same name, Pinocchio (2022). He has proven to be an extraordinary storyteller with thematic complexity and purpose, which is why he’s an Oscar and Academy-Award winner. Although well-known for his directorial and storytelling skills, Guillermo Del Toro is also a master at collaboration.
TV Line reports the official description for Cabinet of Curiosities which states, “From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, these eight equally sophisticated and sinister tales (including two original stories by del Toro) are brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by del Toro.” What better series to watch than a horror anthology crafted among some of Guillermo del Toro’s greatest collaborators? Horror is on the horizon after all, especially with Halloween just around the corner.
First Look At Cabinet of Curiosities
Arguably one of the most anticipated horror series of the year, Guillermo del Toro is back with another exceptional adaptation. The series will follow or is based on these stories: Dreams in the Witch House, Graveyard Rats, Lot 36 (written by Toro), Pickman’s Model, The Autopsy, The Murmuring (written by Toro), The Outside (a short story by Emily Carroll), and The Viewing (written by Panos Cosmatos and Aaron Stewart-Ahn). According to Netflix, the Cabinet of Curiosities series will contain eight horror-packed episodes with uniquely terrifying stories. We’re really excited for this! We can expect the first two episodes to drop on October 25, 2022 with additional episodes to follow each day after.
