Bookstagrammer of the Week: @pawsomereads

Lindsay of @pawsomereads is our Bookstagrammer of the Week! Let’s dig into Lindsay’s account, accompanied by her pups!

Book Culture Bookstagram

Lindsay @pawsomereads is our featured Bookstagrammer of the Week, along her precious pups! Digging into Lindsay’s page is to take a dip into a calming environment that welcomes us all.

We all can agree that dogs are positively adorable, and Lindsay’s pups and partners-in-crime are no exception to the rule. Our featured Bookstagrammer of the Week keeps her audience enthralled with QOTD and aesthetically pleasing photos. And of course, pictures of Oakley, Marley, and Josie.

Let’s kick off with some easy questions. What are some of your favorite fandoms?

Grishaverse, Shadowhunters and Percy Jackson (Can anyone tell I love a good found family trope?)

We know we all have them, so who is your fictional character crush or crushes?

I’m definitely including more than one here, sorry not sorry! I think my first fictional crush was Peeta Mellark from “The Hunger Games” and I’ve just never let go of that one. I recently (finally) read “The Lunar Chronicles” series and I seriously fell for Kai aka Emperor Kaito and his sweet, wholesome nature. Will Herondale from the “Shadowhunters” world is my blue-eyed, dark-haired hero and he will forever be the character that every other fictional crush gets compared to.

And, what’s a fun fact about you?

I’m an adrenaline junkie. I love rollercoasters and I’ve been skydiving two times!

Why did you start your Bookstagram, @pawsomereads?

I started my Bookstagram because I wanted more people to talk about books with! I was honestly super hesitant at first because I wasn’t sure I’d find the connections I was hoping for, but it’s such a welcoming community. I’ve been able to make great friends and find some awesome book recommendations that never would have been on my radar without my account!

What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?

I follow so many amazing Bookstagrammers who bring positivity, joy, and inspiration to me and I can only hope that my account does the same for others. If a post of mine has ever encouraged someone to pick up a book, I’d call that a success! I also love giving people a dose of cute dog content featuring my three pups!

Favorite Bookstagrammer accounts?

Oh boy, what a hard question! I have so many faves but some that I’ll always recommend checking out are @3starsandup, @jaclynneanne, @bib.liophilist, @bookish.and.blue, @rcbooksandfood, @bookish_snippets, @tata.lifepages, @snowedinwithbooks, @the.magicalpages, @cozy.coffee.reads.
I’m always discovering new favorites though!

Let’s dig into your TBR list, what’s next for you?

Currently sitting around 380 books right now…yikes. A few that I’m really hoping to get to soon are “The Starless Sea” by Erin Morgenstern, “Opposite of Always” by Justin A. Reynolds, “An Ember in the Ashes” by Sabaa Tahir, “The Diviners” by Libba Bray and I’m really looking forward to reading “People We Meet on Vacation” by Emily Henry!

Favorite books and authors?

Another loaded question here! A few of my all-time favorite books are “Lovely War” by Julie Berry, “We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart, “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr, “Tweet Cute” by Emma Lord, and “To Kill a Kingdom” by Alexandra Christo. My go-to authors are Neal Shusterman, Jenny Han, Leigh Bardugo, Nicola Yoon, Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff, and Christina Lauren.

What does your Bookstagram, @pawsomereads, mean to you?

It’s been such a great outlet for me to not only rave about my favorite books, but also feel like there are others out there who can relate to my thoughts and feelings. Nothing feels better than posting a review of a book I loved and immediately connecting with other people who enjoyed it just as much as I did.

What’s your special approach to your Bookstagram content?

I try to pair my love of reading with my love of animals by including my dogs in some of my posts. This can be difficult as they’re usually camera-shy but I love capturing a picture of them with some of my favorite reads.

Since you’re located in Connecticut, what are some of your favorite local bookstores?

I’m really lucky to live right in the middle of two major cities that have some amazing bookstores. I love Brattle Book Shop and Commonwealth Books in Boston, as well as The Strand and The Astoria Bookshop in New York City.

How would you describe your Bookstagram aesthetic or theme?

I like to post bright photos with a cool-toned filter on them. I love taking pictures in front of my rainbow shelves because they’re so colorful! They’re really the perfect backdrop for any picture.

How often do you post on @pawsomereads?

I usually post 6-7 times per week! I’m a huge planner and that really allows me to stay consistent with posting.

Favorite book cover? At the moment because we know it’s hard to pick!

I’m a sucker for a beautiful cover and one that I’ve been loving recently is “The Gilded Ones” by Namina Forna!

Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?

As far as publishers go, I think I’d have to go with Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster. I’d also absolutely love a lifetime supply of books from Fairyloot, a book box that makes the most gorgeous special editions!

Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t?

I don’t think I’ve ever claimed to have read these books but I post about them pretty often so people might think that I’ve read the Cursebreakers series (A Curse So Dark and Lonely) by Brigid Kemmerer. I haven’t gotten to them yet but I will one day!

Who is one author you’d like to take a selfie with?

Probably Shelby Mahurin, and I’d ask her for style advice while I’m at it because I love her aesthetic.

When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?

Maybe when I got asked to do this interview? I’m not sure if I’ve really made it, but I do know that I’ve had so much fun on Bookstagram and I’m so thankful for the friends and opportunities that have come from it!

Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers?

My biggest tip is probably pretty obvious, but I always tell people to just post what they love! Everyone can find their niche on Bookstagram and if you’re posting and talking about the things you like, that will bring people to your account who enjoy the same things. Also never be afraid to comment or reach out to people! Everyone on Bookstagram is truly so nice and helpful.

Any additional bookishness to note?

I’m the biggest seasonal mood reader. My reading is so easily influenced by the weather. I have lists for books that I feel are good reads for each season and that’s how I build my monthly TBR (to be read) stacks.

If you’re hoping for more of Lindsay and her pups, be sure to follow them on her Instagram!

But, if you’re craving more of Bookstr bookishness, head on back to our homepage!
