For many of us, summer means more time to kick back, relax, and open up a good book. There is no better season to tackle your TBR list than now. To inspire you to make your reading time as blissful as possible, the Bookstr team has compiled their favorite places to read over the summer. Whether by the pool or indoors with the AC, there’s a perfect reading spot for every reader.
Coffee Shops

I love to read at a local coffee shop during the summer. It is really hot where I live in Texas, so it’s nice to have the option of being indoors or outdoors. I live in a college town, so it clears out in the summer, making coffee shops a quiet and cozy place to go. I am also a huge coffee connoisseur, so it’s refreshing to have a nice beverage while you read your book!

Planes

Summertime is vacation time for me and my family, so I definitely spend a lot of time reading next to pools or on the beach. But honestly, my favorite place to read is on the plane trips to and from our destination: minimal distractions, plenty of time to kill, and a good excuse to dive into the titles on my TBR that I’ve been putting off for when I can dedicate my undivided attention to them.

The Patio

My favorite place to read in the summer is on my back patio while the kids run around and play. I get plenty of shade from the trees and love feeling the fresh air as I breeze through pages. Add an iced tea, and it’s pure bliss!

Beaches

Summertime is normally when my family goes on vacation, and I absolutely love reading on the beach in the shade! It’s a relaxing environment hearing the waves crash and I get to focus solely on my book and nothing else. When at home I like reading on my back porch in the evenings where it’s cooler and I can feel a slight breeze.

And more beaches

There’s something about reading at the beach in the summertime. The sound of the waves, soft and steady, makes it easier to fall into a good book. The sun warms my skin, providing the much-needed Vitamin D, the calming scent of the salty breeze, and the real world feels far away. Every book feels a little more vivid when I’m curled up on a beach towel, completely lost in another world.

Anywhere Outside!

During the summer, I love to read by the pool or outside in my backyard. I love reading outside during the summertime because it’s relaxing, having the sun on my skin and listening to the birds. Summertime is when I go on vacations to the beach, so if I have the chance to go, I’m definitely reading by the beach. I love the sound of the ocean, and it’s just such a calming environment.
