Dune: Part Two

With an incredibly stacked cast including Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Christopher Walker as Shaddam IV, and many more, it’s hard not to be excited about the upcoming continuation in the Dune franchise.

Variety recently spoke with Austin Butler about his upcoming role in Dune: Part Two. Marc Malkin asked Butler on the red carpet of the Academy’s Governors Awards, “You get a phone call that says you’re going to be in the ‘Dune’ sequel, walk us to what goes through your mind?”

Austin Butler responds,

“I just I loved the first film so much. It was this cinematic masterpiece, so the idea of getting to be a part of that world is just incredibly exciting and Denis is one of my favorite filmmakers and just an amazing human being. He’s so kind and I’m a fan of every one of those actors in the film, so I I felt really honored.”

The Elvis star continues with how it feels to walk on set of the upcoming series.

“It’s really surreal. You feel sort of like a kid in your favorite film. It’s like walking on to the set of any film that that you admire, like walking onto Indiana Jones or something like that. Like one of those films that really impact you as a kid, that’s how it felt.”

Butler’s upcoming projects

Butler showed us all just how talented he is in Elvis. Now we get to see him take on a new role on screen. This isn’t Butler’s first time in a book-to-screen adaptation either. He played Wil Ohmsford in the fantasy drama series The Shannara Chronicles, which loosely followed the storyline of The Elfstones of Shannara — book two in The Sword of Shannara Trilogy by Terry Brooks.

Butler’s latest work, Masters of the Air, based on Masters Of The Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany by Donald L. Miller, premieres on Apple TV in early 2023.
