Hi, Kerryann! Let’s start the interview!
Why did you start your Bookstagram?
I started my Bookstagram during lockdown in 2020 to follow authors and learn more about what other people were reading. I had a lot of free time on my hands and wanted TBR list inspiration! I eventually started posting more and fell in love with talking to other book lovers online.

What’s a fun fact about you?
I swam competitively from the time I was six years old through college.
What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?
I hope my Instagram inspires people to read. I try to make my posts accessible to people who don’t necessarily read a ton. For example, I’ll recommend a book based on a popular movie or TV show. If people who loved the movie or show see my post, I hope it makes them consider trying one of the books I recommend. Reading is a joyful, empathy-inducing activity, and I want to encourage everyone to pick up a book.

Who are your favorite Bookstagrammers?
@readinromance makes the funniest bookish memes, @thevioletpage is the sweetest gal to DM with, and I’ve been following and messaging with @shelf_proclaimed since the earliest days of my account.
What’s your special approach to content?
I try to make content I enjoy seeing. To me, making content is super fun and a great creative outlet away from my everyday work life. I’m inspired by books I’ve recently read and whatever TV shows, movies, and music I’m loving right now.

What are your favorite books, and who are your favorite authors?
Sarah Adams, Practice Makes Perfect; B.K. Borison, Business Casual; Tessa Bailey, Unfortunately Yours; Lynn Painter, Mr. Wrong Number; Chloe Liese, Only When It’s Us, and many, many more!

Do you have a favorite book cover?
Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams immediately comes to mind. The gorgeous pink color, the leaning against the doorframe, all those flowers! Gorgeous!

When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?
The first time I ever got book mail from a publisher. I received a four-pack of historical romances in the mail and genuinely couldn’t believe it!
Do you have any advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers?

Make content that you enjoy, and don’t focus on what’s popular or trending right now. Sticking true to yourself and your brand will help you connect with people who want to be right there with you.
