A snowy Christmas isn’t always guaranteed. Here are ways to still enjoy a not-so-white Christmas!

Snow isn’t always included in everyone’s holidays. No matter what the song says, not everyone can have a White Christmas. Most people in the US are accustomed to the bare grass and settle with the freezing temperatures. Snow’s not necessary but it would be nice to experience Christmas with snowball fights, building a full-sized snowman, and needing to use thick puffy jackets. Even with the exclusion of snow, there are many things to do that elevate the merry spirit of Christmas. Here are a few common tips for celebrating the holidays that highlight your Christmas experience.

Decorate Your House

Decorating your house inside and out has become more affordable with the help of battery-sustaining lights. Instead of connecting them to your electricity bill, you can hang them without worrying about how close the cable is to the outlet. If you want to experience a snowy Christmas, you can collect Christmas town figurines and display them throughout the house. You can make your white Christmas come true with everything you wish a Christmas town should have. It’s heavily agreed that most of the town should be filled with bookstores if you’re a book lover.

Listen to Christmas Music

Since November 9th (at least where I live), Christmas music has been on full blast on the radio. If you’re not tired of them, set a Christmas playlist in your home to bring the peaceful holiday ambiance. Whether you listen to the old classics or the newest renditions, it excites anyone for the best time of the year. Or if you like to sit on the couch with background noise, pick a Christmas ambiance video. They go on forever and the images used are soothing and homey.

Binge-Watch Christmas Movies

Each year the binge list grows with cheesy new Christmas movies. From Hallmark to Netflix, the number of Christmas movies to watch is overwhelmingly high, it might take five movies each day to get through them all. You also can’t forget the Disney Christmas movies such as A Christmas Carol and The Santa Clause. Make it a watch party with those pretty Christmas popcorn buckets. No matter how cheesy we make fun of Christmas movies it’s idyllic to the season and a way to enjoy the snow falling. As it always does at the end of the movies.

Wear Cozy Pajamas

There might not be any snow, but the cold is still chilly too freezing to wear shorts. Buying a warm pajama set is a tradition as seen in the movies. Kids running to the Christmas tree to unwrap their presents on Christmas Day while wearing their pajamas makes everyone want to wear one. The usual designs are flannel, striped, Christmas-themed designs, and usually colored red and green. It’s a cozy way to embrace the holidays. It’s the matching socks that make your nightwear complete. Unless you like to sleep barefooted through the cold.

Drink Hot Chocolate

Drinking hot chocolate is a staple of Christmas. Whether it’s by itself or drenched in whipped cream and peppermint sprinkles, it’s best to drink it hot. To feel even more in the Christmas spirit, get a Christmas-themed mug. Like a gingerbread-decorated mug or a cute Christmas cafe mug, any drink will taste like Christmas. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to make this a collection and buy a new mug every year to make this sweet treat even more special.

Make Gingerbread Houses

It’s frustrating to get the cookie walls of a gingerbread house to stick together with icing, but seeing the finished product is rewarding. Decorated in gumdrops and candy canes, aren’t gingerbread houses cute and nice to look at? It’s your little house covered in snow (icing). You can even make it a competition between friends and family. If you call yourself the most artistic of them all, building the perfect gingerbread house is a way to showcase your skills it keeps the holiday vibes present.

Bake

Besides decorating gingerbread, baking delicious sweets and desserts is therapeutic and self-rewarding. The holidays are what makes it extra special with your loved ones sampling a taste of your hard work. It’s also a fun opportunity to bake Christmas-themed cookies and cakes. It gets people giddy to have anything Christmas to eat.

Go to The Mall

It was barely the end of Halloween, and the malls throughout the US began to decorate their buildings for Christmas. By now your mall completed decorating so it’s the perfect chance to roam around the stores and admire the decorations. If there weren’t a lot of people scrambling to get their Christmas shopping done, it’d be peaceful. But looking at people enjoying themselves at the mall can also be calming. It’s another charm to Christmas.

If there’s no snow, there are still houses lined with Christmas decorations. If there’s a specific neighborhood that nails the decorations every year, why not take a stroll through it? It’s even better if there’s a town or city event that organizes a Christmas light event. In my town, there was a light show of cars strolling down the lane, watching different themed lights as a specific radio station played Christmas music to match the ride. It was fun and should be a thing everywhere. It’s not a secret that most cars stopped in front of a huge decorated house and watched to feel the Christmas spirit.

I’ve experienced snow at least three times in my life, and after the last one, I can safely say I don’t need a white Christmas. It’s still pretty to look at. If you’re not used to the weather, would you travel somewhere with snow to enjoy a snowy Christmas?
