The New York Times Bestseller and the first book in a trilogy, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, is set to receive a series adaptation for BBC Three, penned by Poppy Cogan. Moonage Pictures will produce the adaptation of the YA mystery novel.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder tells the story of Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi, as she attempts to solve the cold case disappearance of Andie Bell, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Sal Singh. Sal’s alleged suicide is what leads most people in the small town of Fairview to believe that he is guilty. Along with Sal’s brother and Pip’s partner-in-crime, Ravi, Pip tries to solve the five-year old mystery, only to discover that the secrets surrounding Andie keep coming back to the people whom she loves the most.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is the first of a trilogy, the sequels being titled Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good As Dead respectively. Pip is featured as the detective and protagonist in all three books, along with her friends, acquaintances and rivals: Ravi Singh, Cara and Naomi Ward, Connor and Jamie Reynolds, Nat and Daniel da Silva, Becca and Jason Bell, Max Hastings and Detective Hawkins.

While Cogan is penning the script for the adaptation, Holly Jackson is still involved in the process, as she is an executive producer of the show. The direct involvement of the author is good for producing an accurate adaptation, one that is faithful to the spirit of the book.
Cogan states:
“I’m so honoured that Holly Jackson has entrusted me with the adaptation of her hugely popular and brilliant novel. With a relentlessly twisty plot and a cast of funny and idiosyncratic characters, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will take audiences on a thrilling ride.”

A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder is penned by Cogan alongside Zia Ahmed, Ajoke Ibironke and Ruby Thomas, and will be produced by Florence Walker. The series was commissioned by Fiona Campbell, Controller of BBC Three, and Ben Irving, Acting Director of BBC Drama. Executive producers are Matthew Read and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures, Lucy Richer and Ayela Butt for the BBC, and Holly Jackson and Cogan. BBC Studios is handling international distribution.
