2025 is coming soon, and as with the beginning of every year, new trends and exciting changes. This naturally includes the bookish community, and while it’s impossible to accurately predict the future, everyone has wishes for what will come. That includes us at Bookstr, and you can read about some of our predictions below.
Free Books for All!
In my utopian 2025, any book I want will be free but the author will still get paid. (I don’t know, government. Figure it out.) Maybe a $5 minimum donation fee will be asked of us upon “purchase,” but beyond that — I want it, I got it. I can’t wait.

Stop Cracking Book Spines
I know it might be easier to read when you can open the book all the way, but everytime I see/hear a spine being cracked, it cracks my soul just a little.

The Physical Copies vs. eBooks vs. Audiobooks War Will Finally End
Book lovers from all sides will finally lay down arms and accept that whether someone chooses to enjoy a title via physical book, eReader, or audiobook, we’re all enjoying the same story.

Hardcovers Will be Less Expensive
Hardcovers are more costly to make, but they get so expensive! I generally prefer paperback books anyway, but sometimes, hardcover books are so pretty that I want them instead. But I have to pay $10 extra, or sometimes more, depending on the book, and it’s too expensive to keep up.

Bookmarks come with new books to match their cover!
In my ideal 2025, new books will come with a new bookmark that goes aesthetically with the book! I love matching my bookmark to the book that I am reading, but it would be much easier if they just came with one!

Bookmarks Will Become the Law of the Land
I think it’s time we finally pass this law. No more saving your place by other means. Dog-earring is just criminal! The use of napkins, random pieces of paper, and whatever else you can get your hands on is just ghastly! By next year, I think the law will be laid, and we’ll finally become a civilized nation once and for all by using bookmarks — and bookmarks only! Mark your calendars and preorder those beautiful place markers. It’s time!

Book-to-Screen Adaptations Will Finally Stay True to the Original Story
It’s so frustrating when movies completely change the plot or leave out important characters. Just stick to the book we love — no weird twists or random subplots.
