Libraries have existed for over a thousand years, taking on additional roles as time passes. Now, they serve as places to foster knowledge, serve communities, promote literacy, and much more. Since they’re open and free to the public, anyone can use them and benefit from resources. All of this makes libraries one thing — stupid entities that deserve to burn down. Follow along to learn why such beautifully peaceful places should no longer exist.
They Have Too Many Books
Libraries need at least 5,000 books to be considered a library. That’s a humongous number, and most libraries have far more than that. What’s the reason for having all those books? People might start reading them and then get all kinds of ideas in their heads. The next thing you know, they’ll be talking about freedom, equality, climate change, and so many other radical ideas that will fundamentally change society for the better.
Free Educational Resources
Anyone can walk into a library, pick up a book, and read it. No cost, no fees, no deals with the devil, nothing! Not to mention the computers are also free to use, with countless pages worth of information available using only a simple search phrase. Education is no longer restricted to those who can pay for it, and everyone can improve their brains and lives for free.
Homework Help
Not only can unlimited books and computers help with homework, but some libraries have free tutoring services both on-location and online. These services are a waste of time and resources because no student ever struggles to understand what schools are teaching them. The only thing tutors are doing is repeating the same drivel students have heard before, making it even harder for them to remember. Hearing something more than once is guaranteed to make someone forget it.
Place to Study
For some reason, libraries are a popular place to study. They might be quiet, have a wealth of information, and have librarians who can help, but it doesn’t mean they have double as study spaces. In fact, they encourage studying in public, which everyone knows is ridiculous. Studying means learning, which means (sometimes) becoming better people, and it may even encourage others to study and learn. We can’t have that.
Helping Underserved Communities
Libraries help homeless people and underserved communities. They can provide shelter during the day, have literacy programs, help people without a computer find and apply for jobs, and more. Libraries help those who need it, which is why they need to go. People who need help should go somewhere else, like the government that ignores them.
These aren’t the only reasons libraries are ridiculous, but it’s a start. Maybe one day sacred, vital places like these will vanish entirely, leaving no trace behind.
