The age-old debate about which is better, the movie or the book, is still widely discussed. This upcoming month several adaptations are hitting the big screens. To help you be prepared for this age-old question, here are some upcoming adaptations you should read before they get released so that you can have your answer ready!
The Joker by Scott Snyder, et al.
Based on the beloved DC comics, Joker Folie à Deux is a sequel to the 2019 film Joker. This film diverges from the first one as it is a musical with a cast including the talented Lady Gaga. This film still promises violence, love, and pure chaos from what can be seen in the trailer. Mark your calendars as this sequel is confirmed to be released in Theatres on October 4th.
The Legacy of Mark Rothko by Lee Seldes
This drama about famous painter Mark Rothko follows Rothko’s daughter as she goes through the difficult legal process of obtaining her father’s possessions after his death to honor his legacy. Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the movie is based on the novel by Lee Seldes and will be released on October 25th.
Venom by Al Ewing
This last film in the franchise adapted from the Venom comics is set to be released this October 25th. With the return of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, this final film in the trilogy follows Venom and Eddie as they try to escape the threats around them as they are forced into making a cut-throat decision that will conclude this trilogy.
Rivals by Jilly Cooper
Based on the iconic novels by Jilly Cooper, Rivals is set in a fictional upper-class town and follows a rivalry between two competitive men. This eight-part series is set to be released on Hulu and Disney+ on October 18th. The cast includes fan favorites such as David Tennant and Aidan Turner.
White Bird by R.J. Palacio
Based on the graphic novel by the author of Wonder (2017), White Bird is a story about a little girl who attempts to flee Nazi-occupied France during the Second World War. Directed by Marc Forster, the cast includes stars such as Gillian Anderson and Helen Mirren. This film is finally set to be released on October 4th after being delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
