As Romance Awareness month kicks off, what better way than to reveal some intense love confessions from some of the best romance books? There is nothing like the feeling of relief and giddiness when the two main characters reveal they want to be together and completely take over our hearts. Here is a list of my 10 favorite quotes from romance books that gave me butterflies and had me kicking and swinging my feet in the air while reading.
“I fell in love with teasing you in the second grade, when I first discovered that I could turn your cheeks pink with just a word. Then I fell in love with you.”

Better than the Movies gave us everything, it was a beautifully written romantic comedy for the young adult genre that has lived in my head rent-free since the moment I read it. Liz and Wes are the epitome of high school sweethearts and deserve a live-action depiction because it would pay a great homage to 2000s rom-com movies.
Liz and Wes are enemies fighting over a parking spot in their neighborhood, but they come to an agreement when they make a deal. Wes gets the parking spot if he can help Liz convince her childhood crush to go out with her. With enemies to lovers and fake dating involved in this book, it is sure to take you on a rollercoaster of emotions when you read it. Wes agrees to this arrangement, only his intentions might not be what Liz thinks they are. The sequel to this amazing book, Nothing Like the Movies, drops next month, so make sure to catch up before September 24th.
“I will burn the world down to protect her and I’ll proudly wave the match, so everyone knows I’m the one who did it.”
Liz Tomforde

I am not sure where I would be without the Windy City series by Liz Tomforde. The Right Move is arguably the best in the series so far because we get Ryan Shay, the epitome of what the standard for book boyfriends should be.
Before Ryan met Indy, all he cared about was his family and career as a professional basketball player. Indy showed Ryan what it means to experience genuine love and adoration apart from the love he receives from people who want to get something out of him. Ryan refused to ever leave his apartment because of his popularity and fame, but for Indy, he would do just about anything. Their friendship is pure and rooted in a scheme of fake dating to convince his team’s owner he is committed to staying in Chicago so he is not traded to another team. Reeling from a horrific breakup, Indy finds comfort in Ryan’s shelter and peace which shows her that quiet love is the loudest kind of love.
“So don’t you dare run from me. I’ll break my leg all over again chasing you. And make no mistake, I will chase you.”
Devney Perry

Letters to Molly is a hidden gem in Devney Perry’s collection of books but by far my favorite of hers. This is a second-chance romance where the couple was madly in love for many years before divorcing after a fallout in their marriage but attempted to rekindle their spark.
Molly and Finn go through the wringer and go through many hardships trying to rebuild the marriage and relationship they once had after a one-night stand. To add to the drama, Finn’s old love letters, which he never meant for Molly to read, are being mailed to her slowly, but they are not from Finn, and reading these personal letters brings back old and resented feelings. In a book about forgiveness and growth, Molly and Finn can either hash things out or try to move past it all if they ever want to be together again.
“Touch my wife again, and I’ll break every bone in your goddamn body.”
Mariana Zapata

Do not let the size of The Wall of Winnipeg and Me scare you away from reading it because it will change your life and add a whole new definition to the slow-burn romance trope. Mariana Zapata is the queen of slow-burn and grumpy sunshine romances, and this book has it all.
Aiden and Vanessa enter a marriage of convenience when Aiden’s spot in the professional football league in the U.S. is threatened due to him not being a citizen. There is nothing like the moment when the hero defends his heroine and then declares her as his wife when someone else threatens her. Aiden is a big grump, but Vanessa brings out the best in him and all he wants to do is make Vanessa happy, what could be more perfect than that?
“I know when you look at me, you see everything that went wrong, but when I look at you?” He licks his lips. “Violet, when I look at you, I still see the love of my life.”
N.S. Perkins

If you are a fan of The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han and Every Summer After by Carley Fortune, then you need to add The Infinity Between Us by N.S. Perkins to your summer list. This is a summer romance where Violet and Will’s families share a summer house they go to every year.
They start as childhood best friends but slowly develop a romantic relationship over time each summer they spend together. Right as they decide it is the right time for them to be together, things come crashing down, and they go years without seeing or speaking to each other. They only reunite when the summer house is put up for sale, and they both end up staying in the house one last time. Will will do anything to earn a second chance with Violet, but Violet has a hard time trusting him again. But how long can she put up a front before caving into his charms?
“I don’t care if I have to throw myself at her feet and beg. I’m getting my woman back.”
Elle Kennedy

As part of the Briar U series, Elle Kennedy’s The Risk follows Brenna, the daughter of Briar U’s hockey coach, and Jake, the star hockey player for Briar U’s rival team. A new twist on star-crossed lovers because Brenna knows her dad would flip if he found out she was involved with his rival’s star player, but you always want what you cannot have. Jake has his sights set on a professional hockey career after graduation, but he did not expect Brenna to come tumbling into his life. The forbidden love is captivating to read and only makes you crave more as they figure out if they are worth the risk.
“If this were a simple matter, I’d have eliminated everyone else by now. I know how I feel about you. Maybe it’s impulsive to think I could be so sure, but I’m certain I would be happy with you.”

In this young adult fantasy, imagine The Bachelor but among the royal family. Prince Maxon must find a wife among those selected to be a part of The Selection, a tradition where the next royal must find a spouse among the civilians, all while it is aired on television for everyone in the country to witness. Prince Maxon meets America early on and is immediately intrigued by her personality. America makes it known she does not want to be there and instead offers Prince Maxon friendship and inside information on the rest of the girls there to win his heart. Their friendship is pure, and Prince Maxon embodies the persona of a Disney prince and is one of my favorite characters ever.
“Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway.”

Again, Kiera Cass gives us butterflies with this quote by Prince Maxon. America is Prince Maxon’s one true love, and it shows throughout the entire series. Their relationship was a push and pull, filled with many moments, leaving readers wondering whether they would end up together or not. It kept us on our toes the entire time, yearning for the next book in the series every single time. Prince Maxon will forever be on my book-boyfriend list. He can do no wrong.
“He wondered how it was possible to be so happy from doing so little, just because it was with her. That he could spend practically every waking minute with her, both on set and at home, and still feel like it wasn’t enough.”
Ava Wilder

If you are ever in the mood for a celebrity romance, be sure to pick up a book by Ava Wilder because she does it best. Will They or Won’t They has a lot of back and forth between Lilah and Shane as they navigate their lives after their TV show becomes a hit. In this friends-to-lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers, readers witness the lust and groveling done by both characters because they never were able to get over the silent love they had for each other. Both are dealing with fears of their own, and they have to figure out how to get through them before it is too late.
Every single one of these quotes makes these books worth reading when you are in the mood for a swoony romance book to sweep you off your feet. Love confessions are the best part of every romance book because the writer builds so much tension and yearning between the two characters that makes readers excited for the big moment when they finally get together.
