4 Fictional Characters Who Would Encourage Recycling

Not all superheroes wear capes because these fictional characters would fight to save the environment. What’s one way to help the environment? Recycling!

Book Culture Just For Fun Lifestyle On This Day Pop Culture

Recycling is important. There are many benefits for the environment such as reducing waste, landfills, and pollution. It’s one of the many actions that help keep the environment clean.

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” repeatedly. You might see those words plastered on posters with celebrities encouraging others to save the planet by recycling. And I couldn’t help thinking to myself what fictional characters would be on those posters to promote saving the environment and yell or give a stern lecture at you to recycle.

1 & 2. Grover Underwood and Juniper

Grover Underwood and Juniper are both from the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series. Grover is a satyr who guides and protects demigods. He also became Lord of the Wild later in the series. Juniper is a dryad or wood nymph. And together, they would pretty much be the environmentalist power couple where their love for bettering the environment might even rival their love for each other. That is just how dedicated to protecting the environment they are.

Even while going on quests to save the world, Grover will still make sure to save the world not only from monsters and titans but also by conserving the environment. In the books, you get glimpses of Grover deeply saddened at the sight of garbage littering the city streets or neglected wildlife. He’s an environmentalist with the biggest heart.

Although we only see small glimpses of Juniper throughout the series, she is really sweet and loving but that doesn’t mean she won’t give you a strict yelling if you dare try to harm nature. As a dryad, she wants to keep her home clean. They both have woodland magic so they are a force to reckon with when it comes to caring for the environment.

3. Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy, or Dr. Pamela Isley, is from the DC Comics. She was a botanist and biochemist with an undying passion to save the environment and protect plant life no matter what. Poison Ivy possesses a poisonous touch with pheromones that put people under her control if inhaled as well as the power to control all plant life after an experimental disaster. With her plant toxins, mind-controlling pheromones, and ability to control plants, people would be too scared not to obey her when it comes to protecting the environment.

So if she tells us to recycle, we better, or else she’ll unleash her power and make us do it anyway. I think doing it of our own free will is better than being mind controlled. Poison Ivy’s top and sometimes only priority is saving the environment. Oftentimes, her criminal activities are motivated by protecting the natural environment as well as endangered species from human’s harmful behaviors. She is committed to the planet’s environment.

4. Russell

Who could forget the cutest Wilderness Explorer who went on the adventure of a lifetime in the Pixar film, Up? Russell hopes to help Carl so he could earn the “Assisting the Elderly” badge. It’s the last badge he needs to achieve Senior Wilderness Explorer. Of course, he gains that title at the end of the movie. So with his sash full of badges and a title like Senior Wilderness Explorer, it basically shows Russell’s dedication to not only helping the community but the environment as well.

And he has no problem befriending almost every wildlife he encounters such as an exotic bird that he’ll name Kevin and Dug, a dog who can speak due to a collar. With his curious nature and determination, he will surely encourage everyone to recycle in order to protect the environment. Russell is definitely making small and big changes to ensure the world is a better place. He always demonstrates their motto, “An explorer is a friend to all, be it plants or fish or tiny mole!”

Little changes can make big differences! Make sure to keep sharing the importance and impact recycling has as well as trying our best to recycle just like these fictional characters would want us to.
