It’s official! Everyone’s favourite Covey girl, as Kitty herself would say, is returning to Netflix on May 18! XO, Kitty, the spin-off Netflix series to the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before film trilogy, starring Lana Condor as Lara Jean Covey and Noah Centineo as Peter Kavinsky has officially released its first clip!
XO, Kitty stars Anna Cathcart, reprising her role as Katherine “Kitty” Song Covey, Lara Jean’s younger sister. Joining Cathcart are Choi Min-yeong, Anthony Keyvan, Gia Kim, Sang Heon Lee, Peter Thurnwald, and Regan Aliyah as series regulars, and Yunjin Kim, Michael K. Lee, and Jocelyn Shelfo as recurring characters. The series will have 10 episodes and Jenny Han, the writer of the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before book series, will serve as a writer, executive producer and showrunner.
The plot for XO, Kitty, as stated by Netflix is:
“Katherine Song Covey, Kitty to her friends, is jetting off on her very own adventure. After making things happen for her sister Lara Jean, it’s time for Kitty to experience an epic story of her own. She’ll learn quickly that love is a lot harder when it’s your own heart on the line.”
In the first clip, as released by Netflix, Kitty reveals to her dad and stepmother that she discovered her mother attended a Korean boarding school, the Korean Independent School of Seoul, K.I.S.S. for short, and found her first love there. Kitty applied and got accepted there as well, on the same scholarship that her mother got, alongside her Korean boyfriend, Dae, who she met in To All The Boys: Always and Forever.
As of right now, the three characters who are confirmed to return from the original To All The Boys series are Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey, John Corbett as Dr. Covey (the Covey girls’ father) and Sarayu Blue as Trina Rothschild (the girls’ eventual stepmother). Additionally, while Dae appeared in the third To All The Boys movie, the character has been recast, similar to how Jordan Fisher replaced Jordan Burtchett as John Ambrose McClaren in To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.
While there has yet to be any confirmation or denial that Lana Condor, Noah Centineo and Janel Parrish might return as Lara Jean Song Covey, Peter Kavinsky and Margot Song Covey, it is still possible that the actors may return. Condor and Centineo happily reunited last week at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscars Party, even sharing a dance together, showing that they are on as good terms as ever. Perhaps special guest star cameo appearances from the two To All The Boys leads will happen!
