Why did you start your Bookstagram? What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?
I started my Bookstagram during a time when I was feeling lonely. I wanted to reconnect with my bookish roots and find people who shared the same love of books. What I want my Bookstagram to bring to the world is a haunted kind of comfort. I think books, especially the spooky and gothic ones I love, let us explore darkness in a way that feels safe and even cozy.

A small town in Indiana.

I’ve kept my Bookstagram faceless; it feels a little more mysterious that way, like a haunted library whispering instead of shouting.

For me, the magic is in the edits; it’s turning a plain book photo into a moody, spooky graphic that feels like a page from a haunted aesthetic.
What do you like most about bookstagram?
I love how Bookstagram lets me share spooky, cozy vibes while connecting with kindred spirits who find the same haunted comfort in books.
What’s a memorable or favorite interaction you’ve had with an author or follower?
An author, Matthew Mercer, wrote me into a horror scene based on my choices to see if I’d live or die — that was great. He’s a pretty down-to-earth, chill guy who did a challenge a while back, offering for people to comment or respond to a scenario, and he’d write your fate. He also reached out and sent his latest book to me after I enjoyed his first.
Do you have any advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers?
Think less about the trends and more about the vibes; your people will connect with your passion.
