Back in July, fans of Tite Kubo’s popular manga turned-anime adaptation received a new trailer for the upcoming BLEACH: Thousand Year Blood War arc that entails the continuation of the original storyline where we left off an entire decade ago. More specifically, we’ll dive into the ultimate battle between the Soul Reapers and the Quincies.

However, VIZ Media only recently announced the long-awaited arc’s streaming platforms.

I don’t know about you, but I was a little disappointed by the sudden news, especially since it was revealed just a few days before the premiere. Additionally, after Crunchyroll’s removal of the entire anime series from its streaming service, Bleach fans were definitely set to cause a commotion.

On that note, let’s take a moment of silence for our fallen brethren who were trying to catch up on the series before the new season premiere:

What is Bleach about?

The popular anime adaptation was originally a manga series created by the mangaka, Tite Kubo. His first volume was published in 2001, and the series ran until 2016.

The storyline follows the adventures of fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki who has the strange ability to see ghosts. Not long after his encounter with Soul Reaper (also called shinigami) Rukia Kuchiki, Ichigo gains powers to take down the human-soul-eating monsters that have infested his hometown.

What To Expect From The New Arc Based On The Manga

For those who don’t know or may just be getting into the series, BLEACH: Thousand Year Blood War is the final arc of the hit anime series that aired from 2004 to 2012.

As the longest arc in the series, Bleach is set to have a ton of action-packed scenes and exciting new prospects throughout the season.

Earlier, I mentioned the full-on battle between Soul Society and the Quincies; in this upcoming arc, we’ll get to see the raging grudge the Quincies hold against the Soul Reapers, one that has existed for a thousand years. Moreover, we’ll be introduced to new characters and powers that leave us anything but empty-handed.

Along with new faces, we can expect to find the original gang – Ichigo, Rukia, Orihime, Sado, and Ishida – grow and unlock new powers that will contribute to the mind-blowing battles and revelations we’re all looking forward to in the weeks ahead.

You can catch new episodes of Bleach on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.
