Dear HBO, Craig Mazin, Neil Druckmann, Nick Offerman, Murray Bartlett, and others involved in the creation of episode three of The Last of Us: how dare you? But also, bravo!
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for episode 3 of The Last of Us
Essentially, this episode of The Last of Us was an hour-long, post-apocalyptic, gay version of the opening scene from Up. While this week’s episode was the biggest departure from the game, it was beautifully done. The writing, the story, the cinematography, the acting — all of it was perfect. It fleshed out two side characters from the game in a way that enriched the entire story without derailing anything. Again, I say, well f**king done, HBO.
To be frank (pun intended), fans on Twitter are in shambles over this heavy episode. Me, personally? I’m still hung up on that “You were my purpose” line. So, without further ado, here are 35 emotional tweets about The Last of Us episode three.
