Admired author Rebecca Yarros’s beloved Empyrean series took BookTok by storm upon the publication of its first novel, Fourth Wing, in April of 2023. The highly anticipated sequel, Iron Flame, came out in November of the same year, and since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new installment to satisfy their romantasy craving. Luckily, the wait is almost over! In an interview with Good Morning America, Yarros announced exciting news for lovers of her fantasy novels. Readers of the Empyrean series should expect an exciting third follow-up book early next year!
What We Know
Onyx Storm will be the third book to follow Iron Flame. Although the author hasn’t disclosed much information on the exciting addition, she told viewers on Good Morning America that it will touch on politics, bring the classic characters on exciting new adventures with the cherished villains in past books, and definitely include the beloved dragons. Onyx Storm will come out on January 21, 2025, and is currently available for pre-order!
The Empyrean Series
Fourth Wing, book number one in the series, was popularized through TikTok’s infamous BookTok community. Both books one and two follow Violet Sorrengail, a young woman who, with a group of others, is training to become a dragon rider. Before Yarros’s reveal of book three, Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society at MGM Amazon Studios announced a TV adaptation of the Empyrean series, meaning that fans of Rebecca Yarros are certainly in for a treat in the upcoming future.
