Have you ever wondered what your favorite book character would do during their summer plans if they weren’t busy saving the world or dealing with responsibilities? What if they no longer had responsibilities and could do whatever they wanted? What would Percy Jackson do? What would Clary Fray do? What would Katniss Everdeen do?
Would your favorite character travel and visit the world? Or, would they spend a summer doing volunteer work? Would they get a job as a barista? Or, possibly, would they spend their days watching Netflix as couch potatoes?
Here are some of our fan-favorite book characters and how we think they’d spend their summer plans!
Juliette Ferrars
Juliette Ferrars from Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series is known in the books for her overwhelming compassion. She spends her days wishing things were better for those around her and constantly feels empathy for those she sees struggling in the wake of the Reestablishment. She desires to change the world and make it a better place. In addition to her compassion, she’s an empowered female protagonist who isn’t afraid to do what she needs to in order to accomplish her goals.
Therefore, we think Juliette Ferrars would spend her summer volunteering at an animal shelter or an orphanage. She strives to make people happy and give back to the world and absolutely melts when she sees a dog in need. It only seems right for her to want to volunteer, especially to help those in need. Besides, what’s better than spending your summer playing with some cute dogs, cats, and kids?
William Herondale
While we can’t say for certain what Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices would be doing on his summer break, we can certainly say it won’t involve any ducks. He would probably be out spending time with his best friend, Jem Carstairs, and his girlfriend and future wife (and Jem’s, if you know what’s up), Tessa Gray.
He’d probably be reading lots of books and training and avoiding ducks at all costs, which means he probably wouldn’t be spending much time out in parks or anywhere fowl might be. Also, let’s be real — he’ll be cracking sarcastic jokes wherever he goes, which won’t include the River Thames, either.
Percy Jackson
We all know already what Percy Jackson from Percy Jackson and the Olympians would be doing if he didn’t have to save the entire world. He’d be somewhere on a beach, probably in the water, with Annabeth by his side. He’d probably teach her how to surf, or he’d take her on underwater rides on hippocampi. Maybe he’d take her to explore his father’s underwater forge, where his brother Tyson works.
Or perhaps he would travel with Annabeth and see the world (Not Greece, though, they’re probably tired of it). We’re just glad he won’t be spending it in Tartarus because one time was enough. Nevertheless, though, it will be with Annabeth. He’ll also probably be making mistakes left and right, and she’ll be making fun of him for it the whole summer.
Rosemarie Hathaway
We think Rose from Vampire Academy would have a pretty event-filled summer. Rose gets in trouble everywhere she goes, and she tends to get in fights everywhere she goes. Her summer would probably look like protecting her best friend and charge, Lissa Dragomir, and spending time with her fiancé, Dimitri Belikov (who’s usually the one who has to pull her out of trouble) also.
She and Dimitri would definitely have some steamy fight sessions when they aren’t trying to catch each other off-guard, and she’d probably spend all summer butting heads with Christian Ozera over anything and everything. We’d like to think she would stay out of trouble, but that’s probably just wishful thinking.
Annabeth Chase
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is just so good that we had to include another character: Annabeth Chase. Athena’s daughter, when she wouldn’t be spending time with Percy, would probably be designing and drawing architecture, like she always wanted to do. She would probably travel the world (with Percy, of course) and visit many different places with various architecture.
Naturally, she’d make fun of him in every city they visit. Perhaps she would even get an internship or something similar for architecture to advance her passion. Given how much she and Percy have been through, these two deserve some kind of break!
These book characters were just a few of our favorites. Could you see any of these book characters spending their summer plans as we described? What do you think your favorite book character would do?
