Why did you start your Bookstagram?
I started my Bookstagram because I didn’t know there was an entire community of readers like myself to connect with. I also thought it would help motivate me to read more (and it did!).
Where are you from?
I have always lived in Western Massachusetts. The snow and cold can be brutal sometimes in the winter, but I enjoy seeing the different seasons.
What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?
I want my Instagram to be a space where you can laugh and be your true, authentic self.
Fun Fact about you:
One fun fact about me is that I host a book review podcast called Thrillers and Tea (shameless plug).
Favorite Bookstagrammers?
This is tough—there are too many. To list some of them, I would have to go with my Bookstagrammer friends Chelsea (@thisisjusttheprologue), Crystal (@wanderlustbooklover), Kristen (reliablebookgirl_rbg), Josh (joshs_bookshelf), and Chrissy (@chrissyliterarybites), but there are so many more than that!
Favorite Books and Authors?
Once again, it is extremely difficult to pick. Jennette McCurdy’s memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, was phenomenal, and she’s a remarkable person. I have enjoyed many books by Robyn Harding, and she is a wonderful person. Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman is one of the most well-written books I’ve read. No Exit by Taylor Adams, is one of my favorite thriller novels. I could go on for hours.
Fictional Crush:
I don’t think I’ve ever had a fictional crush in a novel. But I also haven’t read a ton of Fantasy yet, so I might have to get back to you on that!
TBR List:
I have almost 500 books on my TBR; I told my partner I needed to go on a book-buying ban.
What’s Your Special Approach to Content:
I turn on the camera or grab a book that is significant to me at that moment and have fun with it.
Aesthetic / Instagram Page Theme:
Whenever I tried having a specific aesthetic on my page, I felt like I wasn’t being myself. So, my aesthetic or theme is parts of me: silly, random, compassionate, and honest.
How often do you post?
At least twice a week, but I think it’s important to take a week off or any amount of time that you feel you need a break from the internet. It’s easy to feel pressure when trying to force creativity. Sometimes, you have to decompress, and when you’re ready, come back with some great ideas for content.
What does your Bookstagram mean to you:
My Bookstagram has also allowed me to share important life updates. You (the audience) get a glimpse into my world, similar to how a friend would.
Favorite Bookstore:
I recently went to RJ Julia Bookshop in Madison, Connecticut, and it’s a beautiful bookstore with so much to offer. Barnes and Noble is, of course, a staple, but it’s nice to support small business owners.
Who would you have supply you with a lifetime of books?
Either Robyn Harding or Alice Feeney. Their books have always entertained me.
Author to take a selfie with:
Probably Robyn Harding. But a silly selfie with John Green would be fun!
Favorite book cover:
One book cover that always stood out to me, even though it was not overly complex, was The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I’m thinking about having a wallet made with that cover.
Book you have claimed to have read that you didn’t:
1984 by George Orwell. I was called on during an English class to discuss the book, which was painful. Also, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, but I feel I’m missing out by not reading that one.
When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?
I knew I had made it as a Bookstagrammer when well-known authors were in my private messages chatting with me about their books.
Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:
My advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers is to not stress over their follower count and algorithm. Let loose and have fun with the content they create.
