INSTAGRAM | GOODREADS

Why did you start your Bookstagram?

I really wanted to connect with other people who read. I’m a very introverted person, but I knew that I could meet other like-minded people through social media. I was feeling quite lonely at the time, too, so I just wanted people to chat with who would appreciate books more than my boyfriend.

Where are you from?

Queensland, Australia.

What do you want your Instagram to bring to the world?

I want my Instagram to be a welcoming space where people feel comfortable reaching out if they ever need someone to chat with. I also want to share beautiful book photos that bring joy.

A copy of the book Deep End by Ali Hazelwood is sitting among a red, pink, orange, and white flowers. The book has a light blue background with a man and woman wearing red shirts, black pants, and sneakers kissing passionately. Stacked in the upper right corner are four other Ali Hazelwood books with turquoise, light purple, pink, and red spines.

Favorite Books and Authors:

Anything and everything by Ali Hazelwood, the Losers duet by Harley Laroux, The Bonds That Tie series by J. Bree, Praise by Sara Cate, The Edge of Darkness trilogy by Leigh Rivers, The Legends of Thezmarr series by Helen Scheuerer (+ so many more).

Fictional Crush:

My current fictional crush is Tobias Mitchell from Psychotic Obsession by Leigh Rivers or Wilder Hawthorne from Blood & Steel by Helen Scheuerer.

TBR List:

I actually don’t have a TBR list. I decided at the start of the year to scrap the whole idea and just have books on my shelf that I may or may not read. It helps take away the guilt from not reading certain books and means I can always just read what I want!

Three books with page ends painted like stained glass windows. The one on the left is mostly blue with a red apple, orange fox, and golden arrow. The center book is pink and blue with a gold goblet. The one on the right is red and yellow with a red anatomically correct heart and a golden crown. The books are nested in a pile of pink and white flowers. In the blurred background is another book cover with a brooding blond man in armor on the front.

Aesthetic / Instagram page theme:

Definitely floral vomit. Flowers everywhere, the more the better.

How often do you post?

I post once a day, sometimes twice, depending on how much content I have.

What does your Bookstagram mean to you?

Not only does it keep me connected to others, which is super important to me as I would feel so lonely without it, but it has also given me a way to be creative through taking photos and being able to share my love of books with others.

All six book covers for The Bonds That Tie series. The top left cover has a woman with grey hair, white flowers, and a brown moth. The top middle cover has a man with brown hair and a scarred face with white and yellow flowers and a teal beetle. The top right cover has a man with black hair, red flowers, and a black snake. The bottom left cover has a man with golden hair, blue flowers, and a black panther's head. The bottom middle cover has a man with brown hair, dark pink flowers, and a black scorpion. The bottom right cover has a man with black hair, white flowers, and a black spider. The book covers are surround by white, yellow, red, dark pink, and blue flowers. The flowers are arranged to be beside the covers with the matching color/flower type.

When did you know you had made it as a Bookstagrammer?

When I hit 10,000 followers. While I try not to focus on numbers and statistics, it was a very surreal moment. It’s still crazy to think about where and why I started, and then suddenly there are 10,000 people following along.

Advice for aspiring Bookstagrammers:

Try not to get lost in the things you can’t control, especially related to numbers, statistics, and trying to master the algorithm. Instead, I really recommend making those connections with other Bookstagrammers and focusing on making content that you love and get joy out of.

The copy of the book Iron & Embers by Helen Scheuerer is surround by purple, pink, and yellow flowers. The book cover has a teal background with a purple potion surrounded in a white swirling border. There are purple flowers around the potion. In the upper right corner is a purple book with the page ends painted purple with pink flowers.
