We are all feeling the heavy loss upon hearing that Robbie Coltrane, the beloved actor who portrayed Hagrid in Harry Potter, has passed away at 72 in Larbert, Scotland. We know there is no Hogwarts without Hagrid, and so we solemnly raise our wands to him today.
Being someone who grew up watching Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid, it feels like I lost a piece of myself today. I am sure we all feel this way. The Scottish actor played some incredible characters during his career. He appeared in over 50 roles on screen including Harry Potter, National Treasure, Alfresco, and James Bond. He was made an OBE in 2006 and he was awarded the Bafta Scotland Award for outstanding contribution to film in 2011.
