HBO dropped the official teaser for the upcoming season of House of the Dragon, the prequel show to Game of Thrones, which initially brought George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series to the silver screen.

The new look at the season promises war, death, and more dragons as the story picks up from the first season’s shocking finale:

House of the Dragon is partially based on Martin’s book Fire & Blood, which details the history of the House Targaryen, from their first ascension to the Iron Throne to the civil war, called the “Dance of the Dragons,” that eventually devastates their dynasty.

Set 200 years before the events of Games of Thrones, House of the Dragon chronicles the “Dance of the Dragons,” with season one laying the groundwork for the war to begin in season two. The debut of the show was seen by over 10 million viewers, making it the biggest premiere in HBO’s history. Because of its quick success, the series was renewed for a second season less than a week after its premiere.

While the first season consisted of ten episodes, the second season will only have eight. The second season of House of the Dragon will premiere on HBO sometime next summer.
