Lately, celeb reading has been all the rage. I don’t know about you, but personally, my feed has been flooded with reading recommendations from various influencers and figureheads. Additionally, with the comeback of book clubs during the pandemic, more celebrities than ever have been starting them. However, there is one star that you won’t see picking up a book any time soon, and that is none other than Kanye West.
In a recent interview with Alo Yoga‘s podcast, Alo Mind Full, Kanye expresses his dislike of reading to hosts Danny Harris and Alyson Wilson. At the start, Ye confesses, “I actually haven’t read any book.”
Kanye then goes on to elaborate that he much rather prefers conversation. “Reading is like eating brussel sprouts for me, and talking is like getting the Giorgio Baldi corn ravioli.”
It is worth noting that Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi is an Italian restaurant based in Los Angeles. In fact, the hot spot was a date-night favorite of the rapper and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, with Kim raving about the ravioli on her Instagram story.
Additionally, these statements have surprised many, as Kanye West has recently entered the education business. While little information is known about his institution, Donda Academy is self-described to be a Christian private school “planted firmly on the Word of God.”
However, it is worth noting that while Kanye avoids books, he can read. He has sent and publicly released numerous text messages, writes lyrics, and posts on social media frequently.
You can watch the full interview for yourself down below. West’s comments about reading begin around 3:30.
